New 05 evo problems

I have a 05 evo and the car has 900 miles on it, everytime I get on it the car pulls hard up to 5-5500. Then it feals like it is down on power and you hear a hissing sound. Checked all the hose connections all tight, could it be the stock BOV. Oh my car is completly stock. I post about this problem before and never realy got a good answer.

thats the way the stock turbo is set up...it doesnt hit hard all the way to the redline. it wont until you get an exhaust system put on your car. the turbo is designed this way to hit through the midrange, ideally for track type situations.

make sure the clamps that hold ur BOV on are super tight or it will leak boost... get a gauge so u can tell if ur leaking or not... also the stock bov isnt that great... u should definately get an after market one... I am running the turbosmart dual port sounds awesome and will hold 30+psi.

The 05s pull hard to 5200, but that is when it starts to run really rich, which causes a lull in power until about 6k, at which point it pulls hard again to 7500. I used to think my MR was slow, because I wasn't revving all the way past 7k, but once I did, the car felt like a new beast.

Now, none of the above really applies if you are, in fact, hearing a hissing sound. That is very abnormal and would indicate a major boost leak. This would also mean you are talking about a MAJOR loss of power, not just a lull like I mentioned. If this is the case, I would want to know how you KNOW all the connections are good. The only way to know is by doing a pressure test, so if you haven't done one, then you don't really know if all your connections are good. Since you only have 900 miles and no mods, I'd have the dealer check it out before asking all of us. You have a unique, abnormal problem, so they should take care of it.

Stock BOV? I highly doubt it...the stocker sucks, but it's still good enough for low 12s. If it is defective, the dealer will reolace it.

One last thing just to make sure...is your stock intake snorkel fastened down to the bumper? I doubt you have touched this, but I have to make sure...

Well, maybe conditions changed or you are driving harder. Either way, I GUARANTEE that is your problem if the clips broke off. Go to the trunk and take a few out of the trunk lining, then fasten down the snorkel. These clips are reusable, so all you have to do is lightly press in the center piece, then remove the clip. When replacing the clips, pull the middle piece UP through the clip, put the clip in the hole, then press down on the middle piece until it snaps in place. Then, go boost to redline all day long...

Btw, how the hell did you break those clips if you have no mods?

My clips were removed and I have been using tie-wraps. My car hasn't been right since I changed to an open air filter. I went back to the stock air box but the car still doesn't have what it used to. Is it really possible that you can lose that much power from that, and if so why, is it the turbulance? I lost to a bone stock g35 the other day, I have been thinking about upping to an MR since then much more seriously.

Well then listen to me. Go RIGHT NOW and put factory clips in the stock holes to fasten the snorkel down properly. What happens is at high rpm, the snorkel gets sucked up against the hood, which causes a loud whistle while cutting off the air flow. You lose boost and most of your power when this happens. I found out after installing my MBC and running around without my snorkel fastened down. After a week of pressure tests and re-tightening all of my IC and vaccuum connections, I finally figured it out thanks to some others here on EvoM. It's a very simple fix, so go try it by snagging some clips from the trunk liner. If that doesn't fix your problem, then something else is causing it...

TBE + any drop-in filter + MBC or Boost control flash will take care of that problem.
In fact, they will convert your car to completely different beast!
