Can you tell any difference in performance or sound w/ a K&N drop in?

While I really have no first-hand experience with other intake systems, I've got the APS cold air intake and I have been very happy with it. Great sound, great fit and finish, etc... I know this pic won't show you much other than the waterspray relocation kit but here it is anyhow:

We put on the APS 3.5" TBE and the APS intake at the same time. Went from stock ~225 WHP to around 265 WHP with no ECU changes or any other mods. Now of the 40 hp gain, my guess is that the TBE took care of a good portion of that, but I'm sure the intake helped with some too.

Hmmmm !?

I knew there was a reason for removing my K&N panel filter.
Let alone the oil.
