EVO Vs STI Vs S4

well yesterday my car was totaled out and i now need to get a new car yet i am torn between these 3 choices.

Evo (either 8 or MR)

WRX STI

Audi S4

any comments/suggestions are welcome. please tell me which car you like the best and why you would choose it over the others. also is the MR with its new 6 speed tranny and better suspension that much better than the evo 8 is the evo MR worth the money? im posting this question on a forum for each of the cars so i can try and see all angles. so far people like the evo mroe but say the S4 is better overall although the evo and sti out do the S4 in preformance. so just post your thoughts or just say why you love your evo thank you in advanced.

Evo 8 or Mr if you like 6 speed trans. STi is good but is too hard to keed happy with mods. Audi S4 is also good but lacks horse power but makes it up in handling. I had an 04 STi, a 2001 M3 and now I much happier with the Evo 8.

For all out performance, go with the Evo. For a slightly less edgy car with a smoother ride and slightly less performance, go with the STi. The S4 is in a different class, it is more of a luxury car with some performance features. If comfort, noise, and features are important, you can't lose with the S4. If none of those matter to you at all, go with the Evo. The fun factor helps you forget about the noise and harsh ride. Hope this helps.

"Which one of these things is not like the others, which one of these things is not quite the same..."

First decide if you want a very pimp luxury sports sedan or if you want a surgeon's scapel for the street. The Evo and the S4 are on opposite ends of the spectrum, the STi fits in between.

FWIW I used to have a 2000 S4. I traded it in before I had to pony up the cash for a turbo replacement. From time to time I do miss the pimp appeal of the S4 but from a performance standpoint and moddability standpoint I haven't looked back once except to say "man this car is so much more fun than that fat understeering pig".

Did you say if you were looking at the B5 or B6 S4?

MR is more than worth it. Go drive an EVO 8 and then an MR - It's almost a different car. You should test drive each car and then decide for yourself, if you buy a car because of some "poll" of what others say you'll be very disappointed no matter what you chose.

I had a 02 WRX with a stage 4 package on it(not STI but close).I traded that for a 04(B6)S4.I loved my S4 but at 3700 miles the trans went out(auto). After it was replaced it didn't work right(had a bad studder in it) and Audi wouldn't fix it.Then around 4000 miles the a\c stopped working. And last but not least if I drove the car fast which I always do it would get between 6 and 7 mpg no joke.It was a very posh car with style and class but not a drivers car.Out of all 3 I like my MR the best.It has more room, better handling and more performance. The only this I don't like is the interior but then again its a drivers car so that was not a factor for me.The Audi is also more to insure and about $15000 more than a MR.

Hope this helps

I test drove both the EVO & S4

Last year I test drove both the Evo gsr & S4. I just had a baby & needed a 4 door family car as a daily driver. Evo felt faster (if you keep the revs up) and handled better, probably the closet you can get to a racecar for the street.

S4 was the ultimate daily driver, gobs of torque throug the rev range, amazing in the rain and snow (with snow tires). Choose the S4 because I'm in real estate and I need to drive clients in the back seat. Only downside is the gas mileage.

If I were buying a weekend/track car I would take the Evo.
