Newbie: Need Help with BOV & Timer

Hi,

If this topic have been posted before, lemme apologize first. I have done
a search, but it did not directly answer my questions.

I'm looking into a turbo timer and greddy Bov.

I was wondering which Greddy Bov will not mess up my drivablilty. Car is stock
and will be for a short while. Which timer is good or are they all pretty much
the same? Thanks in advance.

Mike

The Greddy w/ flang is is a good BOV. Everyone has there preference. I had the HKS type-1 TT and didn't like it. It was too large for me. I sold it and bought the Blitz FATT DCIII. Here is the DIY Install I worte up: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=146088

I've have been leaning toward the Apex one, but the Fatt looks good too.

Which Greddy? R, S, RS?

A lot of ppl have the RS. LancerShop offers the Greddy Kit: http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...&cat=27&page=1 Also check out JSCSpeed.com. Thats where I buy all my parts. The Apexi is a nice TT as well. I liked that I could control the contrast of the Blitz. At night the HKS was just too bright. Thats why I went w/ the Blitz.
Pastapuck: Not a problem!!!

I didn't like the DTT cause the boost is in kpa not psi and the screen is really small to be watching your boost. For a boost gauge I went the less expensive route: Autometer CF 30psi gauge & Autometer single steering wheel pod. All bouoght from JSCSpeed. Cheapest place I could find it. Here are some pics of my car and the boost gauge: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=148740

Sorry to bother, but do you have the Greddy Type Rs Bov setup?
I keep reading about not using a dual spring setup and should only go
with a single.

Thanks,

Mike

1) TTs aren't necessary, so I don't have one...can't help you there, but they're mostly the same with some having more bells and whistles. It shouldn't really be a tough decision process on this one.

2) If you don't know what the Greddy BOVs do, then why are you looking into getting one? Have you asked yourself this? Do you just want a Greddy BOV to say you have a Greddy BOV or what? Do you have any mods that would require the use of an aftermarket BOV? An aftermarket BOV should be your 4th or 5th mod after exhaust, MBC/gauge, intake, tune. Done beforehand is useless and a waste of money since it's all for the purpose of bling/noise.

If you're truly concerned about performance only, then I suggest a JDM MR DV, since it costs less than half of the Greddy BOVs and since it will hold boost up to 25psi without fail and without ANY change in driveability or idle. If you aren't changing your boost levels above stock, then I suggest saving your money altogether.

This is my first turbo car and there is so much to do with so little moeny and so much to learn. For my current state the JDM Bov will do just fine, but as you mention on intake, exhuast, boost cntrs, and etc is in the plans for the near future. I didn't want to get the JDM Bov now and then have to sell it later to get another if I could find a decent one now. I do not plan to go over 300whp ever.
This is my daily driver and need it to last with some extra umph. I understand there is no reason or benifits for the swoosh unless needed, but it's something I always had a thing for on turbo cars. I thank you for your concern.

Mike
