Just hold it at 5k when the light is counting down, it will build a little boost, when you launch slip the clutch out, dont just drop it, thats how u will be back at the dealership..and as far as shifting...right at 7k

i agree, that the best way to do it. i would probably hold it at 3500 or 4k just to be on the safe side. Until you get use to it.

Bring it to about 5k, quick slip and go. Shift at about 7k-7.2k.

My clutch in rev limiter cuts at aprox. 4.5k not 5k with a stock ECU on my '05 RS.

No big deal but I wonder if my tack is off? any sage thoughts?

dude, don't listen to them... the 05 Evos' have the new helical diff....

they are like 5billion time stronger... rev it to 6500 and DROP IT!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

...................

btw, I'm kidding, 5k, slip, go, 7k shift......
But if your going 1/4 mile runs, I would say from 3rd into 4th, shift at like, 6000... you'll be at a higher torque peek throughout the end of the run....

Hell no, do NOT do this. It will kill your time and mph. You don't need torque in the 1/4-mile - you need hp. Shift from 3rd to 4th at 7200 on stock cams...7500 with aftermarket cams.

Why the hell would you shift at 6,000? TQ only gets you moving, from then on you need HP.

O, and inbetween 2,3 and 3,4 don't take your foot off the gas between shifts.... it's a bit harsh on your clutch, but it builds up inertia in the flywheel, which will help you go bueno faster between shifts

No lifting is good for times, but shifting at 6000 into 4th gear is just dumb. When I shift to 3rd, I'm already at 5600-5700 rpm, so shifting to 4th again a split second later would be retarded.

Do you have any numbers to support your claim?

listen to what the first guy said he knows what hes talking about, as you learn the car you get better at launch it and shifting , dont go out half cocked your first time out and drive it like you hate it take your time hit all of your shift's good and have fun and plan on putting a clutch in it after the first 5000 miles so start saving and looking.

i have an intake and boost controller and went 12.6 @ 109 with a crappy 1.9 second 60' i should be 1.7-1.80 and the car will go 12.2-12.4 with almost nothing done at all

totally disagree with 5000 rpm launch. You really will see faster times if you take the limiter off and quick slip/drop at 6500. Don't even think about shift until 7000 min. Enjoy the ride.
