EVO IX Owners Please Read This...

I am very surprised that IX owners aren't jumping at the chance to mod your cars. The IX is making some amazing numbers with the most basic of modifications. The few IXs tested so far are making 300WHP with just a flash and MBC. TBE is netting power over 330WHP+. Seriously that's like a $1,500 (or less) investiment to trap around 113-114MPH in the 1/4 Mile ON PUMP GAS. Like I said though, very few IXs have been modified and displayed on this site, but the few that have been are showing very promising returns. More IX owners need to mod their cars and display the results on this forum, to see if the IX is really this bad ***.

3000, your enthusiasm is unrivaled!

It's taken me a lot more $$$ just to trap 110.

And I agree with you lets see more #'s from the IX

The IX is awsome and responds very well to basic mods. The true test will be to see how they will respond to cam upgrades.

I'm not modifying mine because that's is what I did with my wrx. I kept modifying to make it faster and faster until the car couldn't handle it. That's why I bought a evo, it's more car then I can handle straight from the dealership, and I believe it's near perfect from the dealership. No need to modify it.

Not many, including me, are modifying because we just dropped a large chunk of change on a brand new car, and would at least like to get a few thousand miles on them to check everything out before we even consider voiding our warranty. I for one don't plan to modify at all for now because this will end up being my daily driver for quite sometime. One day if that is not the case anymore, I'll throw some money into the car, but for now I'm perfectly happy stock.

I think the economy is taking its toll on EVO drivers. You already have a fairly expensive car that runs low 13s and gas is much higher than when the VIII first came out not to mention property value is skyrocketing making it more expensive to have a roof over your head. Then factor in Mitsubishi's unwillingness to cover warrantees and the cost of a new transer case or clutch assembly + labor and its not so attractive to mod anymore

I forgot to add to my last post, the only mod I would consider is to improve the damn turning circle on this car. Everday for work I have to make a uturn and I barely clear it(i have to go in the middle of the lane to clear it). My parents, mercury mountaineer and my previous wrx had a steering circle way better. And I look like a retard when I have to park and back out and repark it, or doing a 5 point turn. I'm sure i'll get used to this crappy turning radius.

I call BS to 300WHP with just a flash and MBC. I also call BS on a TBE netting power over 330WHP. That must be an awfully generous Dyno. I just saw some graphs of a IX running very similar numbers as a 05 model using a Mustang dyno.

Good luck on the cam swap.
