That would be too easy lol.. create another thread so those who actually do search have 500 results when they search

My mirrors are pink too I really didn't buy the EVO for it's paint.. as long as it stays red I'll be happy.

I professionally detail cars, and this is the best I could get a TB after wash, clay, swirl remover, clearkote, polish, and carnuba to seal it all. Paint sucks. Period. Do a search.

THis is a close-up of half-assed detailed Mercedes paint (what paint should be like)

I have a 05' and the orange peel is really bad. I have a friend who had 50 hours in wet sanding his Z06 and since I'm scared to wet sand my car I might just pay him to do it. His vette looks unreal the paint is like black glass.

It seems like the cars that people love and care to keep clean and like to look at the most always get the "my paint sucks" comments. Do you think they use different paint on every model? It's just that noone cares to examine there mirage/galant/montero to complain about it. I would say the paint is good. Just take care of it. If you leave your red or black car in the sun year round you will probably have fading problems just like any other car. If you are constantly washing/waxing/buffing your paint you will be "wearing" it away over time.

^^ Wetsanding this paint is completely pointless due to the outright lack of clearcoat on it. You'll burn it quicker than you can even imagine. Find a good body shop that uses House of Kolor paint, and get it redone. Thats the next project after the winter.

When you purchase your evo, or if you already own the Evo, you can take it to the dealer, and for 800, they will put a thick coat of a special wax over the paint...doesnt change the color at all, guarenteed not to chip or fade for 7 years.

Might be worth looking into, because if you still say, "No, it'll chip..." Then guess what...you'll get a free paint job because of a breach of contract. I did it, and i couldnt be happier...happy that it wont chip or fade, and happy that if it does, i get it repainted for free

paint protection is usually a dealer scam. maybe yours is different, however.

Same **** happened to my 03 rally red. I went to a car wash and when i was drying the car, paint was coming off on the rag, i was like wtf? Also, even when waxing the car, paint came off also, it was getting so bad that it was starting to get whitish spots on the car. I was gona repaint it, but it was gona be too much. So i traded that sucker in and got the EB color, which is very nice.

The red and yellow have a single stage paint job, meaning that they mix the paint and clear coat on the same stage. The other colors get a stage of paint first and then a stage of clear coat. Since the EB is metallic, it has a stage of paint and also clear coat on another stage process.....

I tried to make a claim against mitsu and they said the paint looked fine and there was no need to open a case, which was bs since i metioned to them of other Evo owners complaining about the same issue

the paint protection is a scam.. the solid colors in 03 have a fade problem for sure! i have a red one and only certain parts on the car are clearcoated. maybe mitsu changed their ways after 03 but dunno!

^^ Another part of their best-backed cars in the world. Sounds like another Mitsu scam to get $$ out of the young Evo owners crowd. Seriously...$800 for a "special wax"? In no way is this directed at you, EvoIXowner, but more at MMNA, for putting something completely BS out there to the public. I don't even know where to begin critiquing their claim that an $800 wax will prevent chipping or fading for 7 years. hahahaha.

The evo may be one of the best price vs performance veichels, they cost alot becasue of the performance and design put into it, not the look, if you wanted something like more paint and a better quality interior, then you should have gotten a elise or M3 or possibly STi (dunno about their paint and stuff), this car the way underpriced for it's performance and adaptibility to mods

Almost always a dealer scam, and NO WAX nor SEALANT can prevent chip or fade, the UV is very powerful from our sun and the microfine layer of even lead would still alow UV leakage and if you leave your car out in sun for a long enough time period it will fade
