whats the different between catback and turboback
Welcome to the forum and be prepared to be told do a Search. But to anwser you question a turboback is just as it sounds it's an exhaust from the turbo on and back. Same as the catalytic converter(catback). every thing from the cat back to the muffler tip. You can find alot of anwsers to questions that you have all you have to do is search the forums.
First, learn how to search, you will find the answers to almost any question that you can think of. Get ready, because this car has so many opportunities to mod, you will get addicted quickly. Research before you buy, and pay attention to who answers the questions, you will begin to learn who really knows which direction to point you toward.
Catback= exhaust from the catalytic converter to the back of your car
Turboback= exhaust from the turbo to the back of your car
Catback= exhaust from the catalytic converter to the back of your car
Turboback= exhaust from the turbo to the back of your car
^ +1 i cant believe it either . If u dont even know what the difference is between a catback and a turboback is dont even attempt to mod that evo seriously the name alone hints to what it is.. I know this is getting played out but u def should of searched...horrible question.
turbo back can be either a catback exhaust, testpipe and dp or a catback ,hfc and dp.

I also recommend searching (not just here, but on Yahoo or Google) about how turbo engines work, how modifications affect cars, etc... there's a ton of info out there, and if you post random simple questions on EvoM, you're going to really hear a lot of crap... probably some from me even
My last (and most important) recommendation is to post in the regional section of the forum and ask for people around you who have Evos and are willing to meet up with you in person and/or recommend local shops that will help you. You'll learn more in 15 minutes with someone local than you will in 100 "what does this do?" posts on EvoM...
With that said, you are going to love the car.
dont really understand y every1 is such an @$$ to him... he clearly stated in his first words, "I'm Sorry... im new to the forums and modding..." etc.
But anyways ur question has been answered, and BTW the Best turbo back exhaust is probably the Buschur Turbo back, they are making good #'s on the EVO IX...
also, i dont know if u know what ur getting into by buying an Evo and not knowing much about it. Before u go and trade in that eclipse, i sugguest u read and study the car before u get it..... You will probably find out that u Most likely not have any Warranty after throwing on a turbo back. Also the car is a turbo all wheel drive and needs alot of Expensive maintinence.
the majority of the people who buy an Evolution, know what an Evolution is, AND they also know the Evolution of the car.
im not saying for u not to get one. but make sure u know what it is ur getting into. because it seems like u have no idea. sry

I'd like to vote to put a new procedure up on EVOM. Everytime a noobie asks a question, the first veteran will open his mouth wide while everyone else jumps down his throat.
I find it amusing that people are willing to expend the time and energy to tell someone their question is stupid instead of just clicking on.
In this thread there were plenty of civil responses, but you can see a couple that were obviously written by children.

The rules clearly state that everyone MUST search first before posting a new thread. That is a clear and unmistakable rule.

The search rule is not in dispute, it does get old seeing people ask the same questions every single day.
However I think it is childish that people in this board, and frankly most car boards in our car's class, to call someones question out and out stupid or that they shouldn't mod their car b/c they lack knowledge.
Its part of the reason why this board has a zero tolerance policy.

Also, this guy posted in the NEWBIE forum. TO have some ****** tell you you shouldn't be modding your car b/c you don't know the diff between a catback and a turboback is a flame with no functional purpose other than to inflame.

This is obviously a sterling response. Firm, explanatory, mature.
