I have mine mounted on the windshield up high on the passeneger side. It sucks for passengers since they can't lower the visor, but oh well.

In the glove box... works great!!!

In all seriousness, if it doesn't fit ABOVE the rear view... put it below it maybe?

Is it a good radar detector (like a V1 that has a rear sensor)? Or is it a cheapie that only senses front? If it's a cheapie mount it anywhere on the windsheild, but if it's a good detector put it right below the rearview so the rear sensor has a straight shot out of the back window.

if you use something like veil to lower your lidar profile, mounting it lower close to the dash gives better laser warning.

Better laser warning is nice and all, but if laser goes off, basically it's a "you're screwed" indicator....

You want it mounted at the lowest point possible on the windshield that still provides a clear line of sight out the rear window. Reason being is that cops will target your front plate.

yeah, I guess I could mount it on the windshield. I need to see if I still have the suction cup mounting bracket. I like wiring it to the domelight so I don't have the long wire in the car goig to the cig lighter...

Its a Bel 935 or something like that (very competitive with V1: Slightly better detection on some bands, slightly less on others), and yes it had a rear facing sensor too.

Not with Veil on your headlights. It does give you a chance to slow down.

I recommend mounting it about mid-way up on your winshield with it centered in the middle. This will allow you to get the best of both worlds, front & rear and the widest range of laser.
SOP is aiming for the front tag area or hood. Laser is typically used at greater distances than radar and thus tends to create a bounce effect and can be picked up by your detector. Just about every officer will shoot twice to confirm speed and that's where your detector can save you! I know this from working with traffic units and having been lasered.
My V-1 has saved me at least 25 times in the past 2 months from Laser & radar ambushes.

hardwired V1 on right of rear view. Saved my *** so many times its unreal. Like jayhawker said it sucks for my passenger but hell they aren't gonna pay my speeding ticket so they can't use the visor.

no its on the right of it so it doesn't limit the use of it @ all. its hardwired so no cords, all hidden and tucked in a pillar and headliner.

i put mine right in the center of the windshield right above the wiper blade line, looks sleak and i got the power chord that goes stait into the fuse box so i don't have a big chord across the dash
