Want an EVO...is the IX worth the extra$$???

HI all, I am a fairly new member....been browsing for quite some time now. I am looking into buying an evo as soon as I finish with my current prject. I have done a lot of reading and searching and found valueable info on the evo, but for those who have drived or even traded......is the evo 9 worth the extra?? I have read up about the better turbo, better intercooler, better cooling through the newer fron facia, etc. and knowing I want an RS model I am trying to decide if its worth an extra 3-5K for the evo 9?? I am having a hard time finding an 06 for less than 28K used!! I plan on doing mostly weekend drag racing and an occasional road race just in case that means anything!
