It does have the same brembos but its very poor in comparison. I think it just might be the stock pads cause the breaks should be awsome and grip the same as the STI. The throttle seems to stick in all gears when im revving it high. past 3k all the way to redline. Worse so in 3-4 then 4-5

I had the same problem with my brakes - i was very unimpressed. heres a tip though - warm them up. 2 or 3 really good stops is all it takes. Trust me they bite more than hard enough.

stainless steel clutch and brake lines with the better right fluids will make a noticeable difference in brake and clutch feel. that should be one of the first mods u should make. just my .02 cents

The tranny thing gets much better. The short shifter makes it heavenly.

The brakes are really good IMO. I think the feel isn't what you are used to. When you need them to stop fast, they will do it and you'll be be thinking twice about saying you were disappointed with them. Just dig into them.

The power thing is subjective I guess, but that can be dealt with with minor mods. I was happy with the power from day one, even more with my mods.

Let me ask you this:
Have you tried carving some twisty mountain/canyon roads yet? If you haven't, you are missing out on what makes the EVO own the STI.

getting better brake lines is supposed to do the trick. as for the power issue. you sure you didn't just get used to the power? so a slightly lower amount of power doesn't do anything for you? i know that when i first got my car, i'd get scared when i got on the throttle. but now i feel nothing and wish it was faster. this would only be the case, however, if the sti was your first fast car.

I agree with getting the stainless steel brake and clutch lines. The brakes were always good, good bite, good stopping, but the brake pedal itself always felt spongy before. Once I had the lines changed out to stainless steel, the feel of the pedal was solid, and more in line with the way the brakes were acting.

Oh yeah, scoob4fun, you have a IX, not a IV.

You have to understand the the Evo is designed different than any other vehicle. Sounds crazy but you can't feel the difference but you will definately see the difference neck to neck by the STI. The Evo has an extreamely stable construction. Consider it traveling without moving. A 120 MPH feels like 50 MPH.

The STI with a bigger engine feels like it's taking off faster but after the turbo kicks in the Evo. Traveling woth out moving.

Peace to Dr. Who?

Oops, that was a typo. Ive driven it though the twisty corners and yes the EVO handles much better then my STI. Seats are better too. I dont think im used to it since ive just been getting on it since the breakup is over so its not like ive got 5k on it and im bored. It felt slow from the get go. Even my girlfriend said the STI seemed to have much more power then the EVO at least in stock form. Guess that is why i was asking if i should just get mods and hope that will fix all my worries. Well, the power issues anyway

Perhaps a TBE with a little engine management might wake that baby up a little.

Dude your car isnt even broken in yet! Your brakes and tranny arent going to be smooth as butter until about 3k miles. As far as the power is concerned, your just used to the bigger torquier engine. Get a flash and a catless turboback exhaust and you'll be putting down about 330-350whp and will have the potential to run high 11's on pump gas. Try to hit those numbers/times in an STI for around 2 grand. It would NEVER happen. This car is meant to be modded, and if thats not your thing then you should have kept the STI. Also, this thing handles a lot better than any STI I've been in. The stock evo IX suspension feels smoother/tighter than a lot of expensive high end track set ups.

My friend has a 06 STI, stock for stock, he is no competition. Even from a stop I was ahead of him already. My other friends have rode in both cars and can confirm that the STI has more low end torque and feel faster, but my lengths tell the story...So the STI is just playing an illusion on you. I have the Fat mans package also...
