Thank you for everyone who replied with great feedback and suggestions about what they did. Ill ride it out and im sure the problems im having will smooth out as the miles accumulate. As for 3000ways, your a great guy with great reccomendations. I feel sooo much better now that you have posted in my thread twice and said nothing productive nor have helped the situation. Your insulting and rude. Why dont you take your dumb a$$ comments over to another thread instead of wasting my time. You look like a real *****. What are you, 12?

scoob4fun - I also just got a IX and I have all the same issues as you.
The brakes, although they work very well, feel a little mushy. ( i can get used to this)
The power - I think it is fine, I know that it dies after 5,500...But I did not buy this car to keep it stock, so once I do a few mods, im sure I will be very happy with the power
The in between gear change rev - mine only revs up about 100-200 rpm or so and does not annoy me at all.
The tranny is very nothcy, but with 700 miles I can feel it slowly starting to smooth out. Even with the notchy feeling I have still been able to power shift easily....Even chirped second the other day..

I already answered this: it's normal. It's to do with emissions and was introduced on the '05 models. As I said before: a search will bring up relevant info. Here, I did one for you.

Tons of people in this thread have told you it's an illusion. Unless you got a real lemon then it's something you'll have to believe until you get a chance to test it. The STi suspension is softer too so the car transfers weight to the back under hard acceleration which lifts the front up and makes you feel like you're going 1,000 mph. Take the car to the track or race somebody and come back and tell us the outcome.

if anyone is interested, i've got a 9 im parting out,i had a tbe, hks intake, hallman mbc and tune and made 350whp. i can tell you that the car no longer dropped at 5500 and kicks so much harder, i feel a huge diff, especially on the highway. if anyone is interested in these parts let me know. selling my car because it just sits there and i have a second car, waste of money.

scoob4fun,

I suggest finding a place where you can dyno your Evo. I'm interested to find out how much power you're really making. If you're making 200 whp, then I'd say something is wrong with the car. I do know the STI and Evo are very close in terms of power, so there shouldn't be that much discrepancy between the two.

Your brakes will feel better if you get some stainless steel brake lines. The stock pads work pretty well. I got the lines and noticed a big difference.

I also recommend going with the B&M adjustable short throw shifter and getting a good weighted knob. I went with the Razo 340gram and I love it. Greddy also makes one that is even heavier. Set the throw to 45% reduction and replace the mushy base bushings with the blue ones from the kit. Last, get the brass underhood bushings and you'll be set. The shifting will feel incredible.

If you're looking for a little more power, try the Warrtalon package: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...08&postcount=1. That's about the best bang for your buck out there. If you're making 330whp, I guarantee you'll notice a difference.

No way. I made the switch to the short throw and left the stock leather wrapped plastic knob on for a while. I also used a Momo knob for a bit too. They just weren't heavy enough. It wasn't until I really got a heavy knob that the shifting turned into a joy. Razo 340 or the Greddy Counter Weight - that should do it.

i believe the sti and evo's brakes are the same. but i've heard the sti's brembos bite harder and better. there's a japanese vid out comparing the two and the sti comes out on top.

The first thing I did when I bought my EVO was to do a boost leak test. I found 3 leaks from factory. Do yourself a favor and do a boost leak test on the car and replace all your clamps with the T-clamp style. This may be your power concern. As far as the over rev situation on the car. Try adjusting your clutch out a little bit and reset your battery. I had the same problem and it fixed it for me. The notchy shifting should go away after you put some miles on the car.

I got an 06 IX MR and i tell you what... you need to get used to it. I have driven stickshift all my life but i had the same revving problem i the begginning. After 3000 miles i could say i started shifting it right... I got an intake and a blow off and i am so happy with the way the turbo spools. HKS Racing Very nice and extremely loud. .. I love this car and i would never trade it for an STI with that big scoop on the front. ...

so wait yur telling me u want your "civic like" brakes back? my grandmas civic is like that it stops way hard with a lil touch, i dont want that if im racing a car, i want to be able to use lil brakeing and when i need it middle brake power and hard power, i dont want it to stop hard as soon as i touch the pedal, think about it.... thats why its like that.... u are right on the tranny thing, the sti uses a different kind of linkage, evo uses old school linkage but bushings and short shifter will fix that will $100 in parts fix your STd i meen STi from blowing trannys left and right behond 450hp? oh ok prolly not... the whole rev thing is a simple fix, your throttle cable is just sticking a lil happened on my daily and on my buddies, all we did was move the line bracket in the firewall area and just the stock location makes it do that on some... fixed that in 2 minutes.... so there problems solved thanks
