RPM Hang

Is there any way to eliminate the RPM hang effect on the 05 and up models?

More than just 4th gear. It even happens on a neutral rev. Makes for difficult braking when boosting and letting off throttle.

hmmm i havent noticed it on a neutral rev. ill have to check on that when i get back to my car after work. seems like ive only noticed it mainly in 4th and the braking is definately hindered by it. ill check to see if it does it in neutral later today

If you give it enough gas to boost it should happen.

resonably easy fix I think, just install a lighter flywheel...

You think a lighter flywheel would "fix" the built-in rpm hang controlled by the ECU?

I have no idea, honestly. But, since I have installed one, my rpms act more like an on/off switch compared to the stock flywheel.

do you honestly think its the ECU? or maybe could it be that heavy flywheel spining at 7k and a low compression motor. hmmmmmmmmmm seems like rocket science.

that was my first thought too since the original poster didn't make it clear what he was complaining about.

No, it's a built-in thing on the 05s and 06s - it was for emissions. Chris, you have an 03, so your example doesn't apply. You guys probably haven't experienced what we're talking about. The rpms hanging have nothing to do with a low compression engine, haha. THey really stay up there...they barely fall and actually keep pulling you along at speed if you stay in gear. Out of gear, they fall very slowly until 3500rpm at which point the rpms drop quickly at normal speed.

I've been wondering about this, too. My 03 never did this in 49,000 of fun-filled driving. I can live with it in my 06, but I would much rather eliminate it. When you're flying down a mountain road...it's a lot more comforting to feel a little engine braking/deceleration instead of "cruise control." I'll be at Tuning Technologies on May 14th having Shiv tune my car. Hopefully, he can work some ECU magic.

Its for emisions, you can't remove it with a flash or "ecu magic".

On the 05 and up models, the motor spins down very slowly after hitting boost and letting off throttle. Much slower than without boosting at the same rpm. Almost as if you didn't fully let off. Just FYI.
