Evo vs. Evo MR times
SilverEvo8,
Nice Miata, mine was a 92 with the 1.6l. I love the handling but I hate the engine performance. I almost did a Greddy 15g turbokit for it but then I backed up.
I sold the car after only 3 months of having it. I miss the great gas milegae and the driving position(everything is handy) but the engine lacks of soul if you know what I mean.
You whp sounds healthy, did you have any flying miata package or any Jackson Racing S/C?
Carlos

... Actually they are quite peppy if you keep the revs up, but ppl just don't like to do that. I added a JRSC with a special blower... It was a R&D project back before Downing sold the supercharger to Jackson Racing... It has a finer pitch (more turns per inch of length. I'm also running about 8~9 psi.

Do your searching, get some ideas, make your own decisions, then if you still have a specific question, make a new thread in this Newbie forum and ask your question. Do not just ask "what mod should I get first." Read the other 1000 threads that asked that same question, then tell us what you find out.
As a bonus, my suggestion is to look at my signature for the best way to spend close to $1000 on a IX.

Is the MR a little quicker to 60mpg and in the 1/4 mile vs a regular Evo (not RS) ?
Trying to decide if the MR if worth it. Yes I know all the differences between the 2
but dont know if the MR is quicker with the 6sp and slightly different gear ratios.
I must say, being a older guy, I was very impressed with the steering, handling,
turbo thrust. This car is a real kick to drive. Of course if I buy one my neighbors
will ask if I bought it for one of my teenage sons. My wife wants me to buy a BMW
or Lexus, but I think the Evo is more my type being a engineer (something to tweak
and play with)
Thanks in advance

I would say your best bet is to drive both of them. This coming from someone who has driven both, and decided to get a IX. I really wanted the MR, but I couldn't get used to the shifting. Knowing I couldn't get a short throw, I opted for the IX. I really didn't want the ssl, but the HID's were a must for me so I bought the IX with ssl and I love my decision. This forum was great for helping make my choice.
