Yeah, first off, im not 16. Second off i live across the country from you so i have never seen a "Riced EVO" so to my experience they dont exist, all though i guess everything is possible in cali. Here people frown on any evo that looks like that, the biggest thing here is either looking sleeper, or blacked out. My statement based on the evo was not ignorant because of the simple and yet obvious fact that it was opinion, and based on completely different experiences with evo's. Also sorry about the racial profiling, it just seemed like you were getting way too offended, and becoming defensive so i just figured thats why.

As far as choosing between the evo and the 350z, it kinda seems like this guy just came in here set a firecracker under everyones ***, and just sitting back and enjoying it. Why care what anyone else's opinion of the two cars are, its whether you like performance more than luxury, style over function. etc. etc. They are both good cars but different classes, and it really depends on what you are looking for.

everyone please, this guy has obviously got a grudge against the evo for whatever reason. It may be bacuse he cannot afford one or he is sick and tired of losing to them.OR maybe his girl left him for a guy with an evo He just needs somewhere else to vent his frustrations. I bet he feels like hes getting the best of us or pissing us off when he posts his final reply of the day and closes his internet browser

Wrong.

I can afford one, I almost traded in the ralliart and bough a IX a few months back, but choose to wait for the SE or the possible GT-R. Also, I have never race an evo.

, that's the funniest thing ever. My girl hates the evo and any mitsubishi for that matter, she drives a jetta and ls430.

Wrong, again.

Your 0 for 4, wanna strike out again?

If I had an evo now, my comments wouldn't change. When people get a car (evo for example), they change and become ignorant to any and everything on the road. Their reality is blur and they feel like nothing can touch them or the car. I may drive a ralliart and g35 but ask any evoM member or sclc member that knows me, my cars or personality has not changed me since I had a 02 lancer es or 01 sentra se. When I get my evo, my mindset will be exactly how it was when I had my old cars, or even my first car... a 88 sentra.

In the end its just a car, be happy you have it, don't knock anybody else because they don't, because one day you will not have it.

The brakes on the non-Track/GT Z's do suck ***, but the Brembos are great.

The interior of the Z wasn't the greatest (many Z owners complain on my350.com), but it looked real nice. I personnaly like the interior of the Evo better (the seats, sterring wheel, carbon trim, functionality of a "sports car"... not luxury bull****) but many people like their interiors to look more upscale. My Z never had the problem with the interior compartment doors dancing around, but I know people who've had that problem... it's pretty common (but only for the nav/cubby hole, not the armrest one).

If you seriously need a car to get panties to drop, you suck at life. That's shouldn't even be brought up as a reason to choose a car... this is about performance.

Oh, by the way, unless you have experience with both cars, don't post your worthless bull**** in here. I said the same thing on the Z forum too... it's anoying as hell to see **** like "the Evo look's like ****" or "the 350Z=junk" being the only things posted by some people. Get a life.
I agree with the 350z compliments. I owned one and I liked it. The drivetrain was great. Both engine and trans. I kept mine completely stock. The throttle response and powerband were great. The shift feel was also awesome. The only complaint for the powertrain was the clutch/flywheel chatter. The car did feel nose heavy when taking turns compared to the evo, but the steering was still fairly responsive and the car would stay flat.

All in all, it felt like a comfortable sports car that still got good mileage. (21-27 for me)

350z is a good sports car, i got to beat on a Roadster for almost a day! Handles good, accels good.....but....it didn't compare to my evo even when it was stock. To call the G35 and 350z True sports cars over an Evo is just plain crap or maybe you can say that but then the Evo is a supercar.....as far as results go, last time i checked the Evo was ranked up with exotic supercars ever since i can remmeber. The G35 and 350z are not even in the same boat....the Evo truly is a Japanese Supercar to where the g35 and 350z are good "American Style" sports cars even though it is a Nissan. Im not putting down these cars, it just seems that the person asking the question already seems to be 1 sided. I am a performance enthusiast that has great respect for "most" sports cars out right now.

I am on my 2nd evo after my first was totalled and i have never looked back.

Evo not a true sports car? HA! prove that and i'll sell my car right now! Also think twice about saying that the evo is a rice boy image over the 350z.....try to find your reasoning for that and you'll discover that just as many people "Rice" out their 350z or G35 as the Evo.

Maybe this is another poor attempt to **** everyone off at eachother on the forum

i had to make the same desicion...Drove the 350 first. It had IHE, intake plenum, lowered rims and had the brembo package. Also the best color Graphite grey.
Total out the door was 25k. I enjoyed the RWD and didnt enjoy the feeling or road noise you got out of it. The stearing felt OK but thats it. I did get sideways really easy

Next i test drove the STI- i'll leave my comments out of this one

Finally drove the Evo (most espensive out of the 3 i looked at)...the four doors are a plus for me as i have 2 kids( but not necessary). The power control and stearing felt spot on where the other two felt lacking. I wanted a sports car and i got one in the evo in a much better package IMO. As for looks i thinks it looks every bit the part of JDM supercar. It competes with 911's, ferrari, corvette, nissan, nsx's etc... all on the track...just look at the best motoring video japan vs. porsche, ferrari, corvette...and that was an evo vii...

Let me preface with saying that I have experience with both cars. When I signed up for this site, I owned a lightly modded 2003 350z enthusiast... unfortunately, in June it got rear-ended and totalled, so I went out and bought a 2004 Evolution VIII. I honestly can't say I'm overly impressed with the Evolution. It is an awesome car, no doubt, but it certainly isn't the SUPER AWESOME BETTER THAN A 350Z that some of you guys are making it out to be.

Exterior
The 350z looks better than the Evolution, hands down. Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder, but the Evolution is a Lancer with a big spoiler and a body kit. There is no shame in this, but lets call it for what it is... The Z just looks more distinguished than the Evo.

Interior
This is pretty much a tie. The "wobbly" interior of the Z is pretty much the inability of the user to identify how to properly open and close the compartment - its sort of counter-intuitive. The leather in the Evo is awesome, and I love being able to have a sunroof again. The Evo boasts twice as much room, and actual, functional backseats, and the sound in the Evolution is better as well. The 350z, however, has that real "racecar" cockpit feel that appeals to many people. The central gauge cluster is very cool as well, and everything inside feels close, and at-hand. Again, both have their pros and cons, so I guess its a tie here.

Speed & Acceleration
While the Evolution is definitely fast, I would love to see a stock evolution try to hang with a 350z from 60-120. No kidding the Evolution will win in the 1/4 mile... its AWD... and that extra 1.5 seconds can be pretty pricey in the form of a $1500 clutch job. I honestly have to say that the turbo lag isn't bad, but the power below 3000 rpms is absolutely abysmal, and the power at the peak is less than the power at the Zs peak. However, the "kick" of the turbo is awesome. Blasting through the close-ratio gears of the Evolution is really, really fun, and despite the numbers, the Evo feels faster from 20-60mph, but after that I feel like it really lacks compared to the 3.5 v6 of the Z.

I'm sure this is a point of debate, but the cars are pretty equal with the Evolution being stronger at lower speeds and gears, and the Z being stronger at higher speeds and gears.

Handling
I had 275 rear and 255 front tires on the Z, and the Evo with balding 235s still handles better. I can't believe how awesome the Evolution handles, but this is just no contest here. The Z was a terrific handler, but the Evo is just in a league of its own.

Modification
The Evo, obviously, responds much better to mods. I think, though, the VQ35 is getting a bad rap... I know of several guys who are running 400whp on stock motors with a s/c or turbo. You can get a nice Vortech kit for $5000, and with a tune and some bolt-ons you're in great shape. The Evolution can probably get more for $5000, but anything over 400whp isn't really reliable on any car, is it? I mean, no doubt, the Evo is great. The boschur package for $1500 bucks is claiming 300whp, where a quality exhaust for the Z alone could run $1100. I'll give this category to the Evolution.

Reliability
I have to bring it up, because the Z is a beast who loves abuse. There are some TSBs on little things, and occassional gear grinding... but its a n/a v6, so you don't have the heat concerns... and its RWD so you don't have the drivetrain worries... its a great subject to just abuse over and over and it doesn't hiccup. The car is very sound and mechanically bulletproof at stock levels of power. The rods have a bad wrap of being weak, but they only have given out under some serious boost at high hp levels. The Evo has a bit of a reputation of breaking. At least, from what I've read.

Conclusion
So, its unfair to say the Evo is SOOO much better than the Z. While the Evo definitely has its advantages, so does the 350z. They're both great cars, and both top tuners.

... now as far as the G35 goes, I can't really comment because I've never owned one.

But I'm sure its crap.

wait... are you suggesting that your g35 can touch my evo? i'd say that's a pretty bold and "changed" statement.... cuz in all seriousness... there aren't really any that can, especially without blowing up.

Both the 350 and Evo great, capable sports cars. Its a matter of personal preference. I have owened a 95 Eclipse GSX, 95 Integra GSR, 00 Integra Type R, 01 Mercedes CLK 320, 01 S2000, and now an 03 Evo.

When I got rid of my Mercedes, everyone thought I was Crazy "Man I wish I was 21 with a CLK" is all I heard. At the end of the day, my CLK was like a beautiful girl with no personality. Yeah, It looked good, everyone stared and wondered how I got it, and everyone wanted one, but thats where it ended. The CLK was not much fulfililng to me, especially after owning so many sport compact cars. It was just boring... I sold it and bought an S2000.

I'm telling you this because you should buy a car based upon what YOU want, not what others will like. If you buy a car for YOURSELF based upon OTHERS you may end up sorry and make a poor choice.

At this point I could go out and by one of the new 645 BMW's are something along those lines but naah... My Evo makes me very happy....

Which of the two will make you Happy...

Oh, and just to give you my personal opinion, its hard to beat a 4 Door car that is capable of making an enourmous amount of HP...

To the mainstream, a "true sports car" is a two seater (or 2+2), two door, rear drive car. It's based more on those characteristics and less about actual performance. It's biased and maybe a bit dated, but that might be where this person is coming from.

I used to own a 350z and am now a proud owner of a EVO9. The 350z was garbage, I bought it brand new and drove it only 1 year then traded it in. I had numerous problems ranging from brakes, windows, clutch problems, paint issues, etc.

Also the car was slow, heavy, and to make any real power I would have had to fork over $7,000 for a good turbo kit, and that's not even considering labor. I must admit, tho the car turned heads. I get much less attention from woman while driving my car on the streets w/ my Evo compared to the Z. But the Evo is faster and has more potential than the Z IMO.

Buy and evo if your looking for better performance. Buy a Z if you don't care about performance but want the attention. Give and take, can't have both, unless you buy a Porshe.
