Former WRX owner buying EVO 9 GSR
Former WRX owner buying EVO 9 GSR
Picking up an EVO 9 GSR tomorrow from Philly. I have never drove an Evo but have heard nothing but good things. Couldn't get a deal in my home town (Buffalo, NY) and could't wait for shipping from Mark at Southcoast Mitsubishi. Drove a modded 05 wrx until last week and loved the car to death. I'll have some questions once i get the car but figured I'd introduce myself for now. Glad to be here. Car color is Graphite Grey. I want to start out with some lightwieght rims and Turbo back exhaust. I'd like to push around 400whp in due time.

400 hP is a general daily driving number if you plan on shooting on the conservative side. But you buying a Evo without driving one first isn't the best thing in the world to do, but you won't be sorry. It is quite different then your WRX in the power diliery area...but you will definitly enjoy the change. Welcome on board man ...keep it shiny side up!
First off welcome to the board, Second break it in first *take it easy*, third after you break it change the Oil around 800-1500 mile then do some search on aftermarket parts, it doesn't take much upgraded to make the IX fast.
No, do not take it easy during break-in. Boost hard and boost often, but stay below 5000rpm. 400whp is doable, but it's on the extreme edge of what the stock turbo can deliver. Aux, he didn't say 400hp, he said 400whp - 400hp would be easy, but it would also just be a guess, since there is no linear, direct drivetrain loss percentage that can be used.
You also don't need to change the oil before the first scheduled oil change around 4-5k miles.

Can the diff's and tranny handle 400whp, I want to keep it stock as much as possible for warrenty issues.
What kind of maintenance am I looking at extra that I didnt have to do to my wrx.
I also have foglights but no switch to turn them on..lol Unless i am a complete retard and cant seem to find it

Congrats on your new GG Evo 9. I once was like you, I thought my modded WRX was the S H I T , little I knew about how the Evos are so superior, they are in a different league.
If you thought that your WRX offered you the ultimate performance thrill, then just wait for the Evo 9 and you'll see.
I wouldn't even put light weight rims on the Evo 9 yet, they are very light(1.23lbs lighter than the Evo 8 Enkei rims). The only thing to be aware is that you might have a Evo 9 that makes noise when touching the brake pedal, this is known is some Evo 9 customers.
Secondly, some Evo 9 owners had complained about the notchyness of the shifting, something that can easily be fix by putting some Shyncromesh or Red line MTL fluid.

The owner must reply and let us know if he ever got the SSL package so that we can know for sure if he has the fog lights or not.

Well the dealer who sold me the car doesnt know **** about the car and told me there was hid foglights, after taking a closer look they are there for show but I would like to add some. I do have more questions but I'll post them in the general automotive section. Add yes I am highly impressed with the performance of this car, I am glad i didnt get an sti or another wrx. And thanx for the info on the brakes/ tranny issues..hope i dont run into that.
