Well if the shop that has done it before - why dont you ask them how long its going to take???

General idea:

Took my mech and I (neither of us had done this sort of AWD or car before) 3.5-4 hrs. And thats without the front bumper on there - total strip down, replace, put together, fill up, test/adjust, and test drive.

Haven't taken it to a shop that has done it before as of yet. Just trying to figure out an estimate from those of you who have gone to shops before for your Evos.
My friend took it to the dealer (yikes I know) and they told him it's an 11 hour job. I told him to tell them to stick their 11 hours up their ***.

Ya taking off the front bumper (w/ undertray) before getting to the shop saved about an hours time.
Haha, dealers suck - they wanted over a grand to do my clutch change - I laughed. Went to my mech with my parts and slapped it together no prb. ((Mine you - stocker was still good - just didnt like the stock clutch, so I switched it to an ACT)). I knew the dealer was going to suck at life - I just wanted a good laugh and I was there already for a free oil change...oh I had a good laugh

Yeah, the reason why he went there was to find out why the car wasn't going past 5500 rpms in 4th and 5th gear. They told him that it's the clutch ( I don't believe it and neither does he since the clutch wasn't slipping). He's busy running around at the moment to find out if the dealership where he got the car from will warranty the work. Still told him not to have the dealership do it.

Ya your situation still doesnt sound right - I always strongly warm against getting an unknown Evo, but too late now.
A smoked clutch will rev all day - and go nowhere, just slip to oblivion.
Did you double check all vac. lines, elec. connections, lines behind dash....everything? Did a squirrel eat ECU lines (or mice live in the fuse box)...I mean everything...

The problem was worse before with a VTA BOV but that has been changed back to the stocker, the only problem now is with these 2 gears. Chasedalanevo made a thread about the situation in this section titled Need Help.
