240sx w/ RB25 swap or 05 Evo?

I was thinking of selling evo to involve meself in a 240sx rb25 swap.
I wanted to know what others think about the RB25 swap 240.

As with anything, it all depends.

What do you want out of the car? Is it your daily driver, weekend warrior, trailer queen...? A 240sx RB swap would be damn sweet. As I understand, they typically run 13.5's swapped in, nothing done. Naturally, you can go much faster from there with money.

If this is your daily driver, keep the Evo. The engine is just as capable for street use...and you have two extra doors.

Personally, if I were going to do an RB swap...I'd go all the way. Probably end up doing a 14.5 Silvia conversion...'cause they be damn h0t. I'd end up spending way too much and hating myself.

One of my friends just picked up an sr swapped 240. Its a very fun car. Loads of potential.

I say, if you know who did the swap, and you know everything was done well, go for it.

As it is I have 2 daily driven cars, my beater 1996 subie and my evo, which I have very min mod's. (because I don't want to loose warrenty plus I pay 1500.00 for 6 months of insurence.)
I want to drag evo, but I dont want to kill the stock clutch, and when I do need a new clutch their go's my drivetain warrenty.

basicly 240sx gives me power, and money and a car that I can "play" with.

Sounds like you need/want that warranty. You have to realize that going the RB route, you'll be dropping a bunch of money (and time) getting the swap done and situated, provided you don't buy a pre-swapped 240.

If you're comfortable working on your own car and don't mind it, the RB might be more viable. Just be sure you have the space and tools as well, of course.

The way I see it...the Evo is plenty fast and will handle way better than the 240. It also has warranty. If you end up insuring your 240 for all the aftermarket parts, you'll probably be looking at 1500 or more as well.

You already have an awesome car. I'd personally wait until I could trade out the Subie for something like an RB swapped 240. Then you'd be set.

It'd be an SR swapped 240. RB swaps have been more common over the past few years...but still not quite as popular.

Honestly, as sweet as it'd be, you're better off with the Evo. Both are nice cars for sure...and maybe I'm being bias (despite loving Nissan), but I'd never sell an Evo for a swapped car...no matter the swap.

I just can't see spending another 5 years of 450 a mo. in payment + insurence.
when I can take a loan out for half that and have 240rb25 or even a rb26...

I was in the same boat...so I settled. Either wait another year to get an Evo (at which point the 9's would be gone or all used. Didn't want an Evo X) or get the next best thing: SRT-4. I'm still very happy, have my warranty and will pay it off in 2-3 years.

If you're not in a position where you can pay your car off faster, by all means, sell it. Just trying to point out the differences between a newer warrantied car vs. an older swapped ride. The latter will require much more of your time/attention to keep going. For some (like the DSM crowd), that's fine. They enjoy wrenching and doing the work themselves. For others like me...I can do most of the basic stuff...but otherwise, I simply don't have the time for anything other than weekend work (like a turbo swap, FMIC swap, things like that). I couldn't afford major downtime due to modding gone wrong.

In this case, since I'm going to stay stock until I pay it off...if something goes wrong, it goes to the dealership and I get a rental. Take a moment to consider your situation both financially and logistically, then decide. Either way, it's not a 'light' decision.

even though he drives a srt4, I still agree with him, Swapped car + daily Driving =

no fun. Stuff only breaks.

My friend's 240 has been swapped for the past 2 years. I also know the previous owner. Nothing has gone wrong with it.

I say go for it

Here is the kicker... I just bought a house....lol
I can keep evo... but not going to have a hole lot of money to play with it.
I have a garage now, so if I keep evo, I don't have to pay for storage anymore.
if I sell evo, I have a place to work on thing's
i.e. 240 swap and now that 450 a month go's in to rb26det.

btw silver 9 thanks for all you incite

so now you know a little bit more of the story.
do I keep evo as is lightly modded until I pay it off. 450 + 3g insureance (altho should be alot cheaper next year.)

or

do I sell and then slowly build up a 240sx.? cost 5g motor, 5g car, 10g parts , maybe 3g labor if needed.
