The way I'm looking at it right now, a WRX TR with the options I've selected is right at $29K. I'd just toss $2.5K extra and get the Evo RS.

Then again, if we feel that the price is still a tad high, I'll suck it up and go with a Mazdaspeed 6 or a Mazdaspeed 3. My wife can not like Mazda, but screw it, she isn't driving the car, I am...and I want a turbo. At least the Mazdaspeed 3 can keep up with a GT. I raced one once and I could not walk away from him. The guy lives in my neighborhood. I was pretty impressed. So that is my LAST option. I'll try for the Evo, if that is too high, the WRX, then the MS 6 and finally the MS 3.
You would save a lot of money by getting those mods aftermarket. For good evo pricing, check this thread out:

Just hate to see you spend too much for an Evo is all..

The mazdaspeed 3 is a front wheel drive car fyi. (since you said you didn't want anything but Rear or allwheel)

+1 (+ suspension)... there's a guy around here that has done that and that car is amazing. It only weighs like 2800lbs and handles like you can't believe. There's a sweeper near my house that I've taken at 70-80 and felt close to the limit and he blew through it at the top of 4th gear. I roasted him off the line, but through curves I couldn't even come close to shaking him.

gc8's are nice that's for sure. But do you know how much the swap costs? My cousin has a gc8 and totalled it up to be around 8g's w/o installation or anything. Also if you get a gc8 it should be like 99+ i think because of the newer body styling and they are atleast 8-12g's. This is not including suspension or anything else.

All im trying to say is that it'd be a nice/rare ride but cost quite a bit. You could buy a used evo and not to have to deal with all the trouble but you wont have as rare of a car. Either way both great choices.

I know, I'd be willing to make the sacrifice just so I'd still have a decently powered vehicle. Talked to my wife about it and she just has something against Mazda. She said she'd rather see me in a Honda instead of a Mazda, and boy does she hate Honda. hahahaha

So I guess I'll just get the bottom of the line Evo, without the effects or swaybars.

Sweet! The RS with only wheel locks comes up to a price of $29,174 MSRP. I'm really liking that price.

SRT4 is a big no for me. Yeah they look ok, but I think the MazdaSpeed 3's look better. I know Dodge is stopping production for the SRT4. I can't remember if '06 was the last year or '07.
