How did you get an evo???
I'm talking paying for one, I own a 02 Lancer and am a big fan of the Evo 8 and 9, I'm only 17 and will be getting payed very low until I turn 18. I saved the money for my Lancer and paid it off on the spot. How much do you have to pay a month to keep your car and the insurance must be crazy high too. Be nice and let me know how you went about buying your evo :P
also, what are the pros and cons to buying a new and used evo?

I bought mines last January and Im 19...I pay $1,000 a month and $200 insurance out my own pocket. My insurance is under my dad's so i already have the "discount." We both have clean records and yes insurance is that much expensive for "new drivers"...i hate it when they say "new drivers."
but what can i do?
but what can i do?

In your position an Evo will seem very expensive to own. For many (myself included) it's an expense that we can easily afford. Of course, I'm not 17. I'm 37 and make a very good living. In spite of that, though, I will admit that this particular vehicle is costly. I actually started a thread not too long ago asking owners what the total cost of their Evo is every month. Back when gas was $3.80/gallon for premium I calculated that I spent about $1200/mo. for the payment, insurance, gas, wear and tear, etc. Some pay even more than that. Is it worth it to me? Yes, but I can afford it. Would it be worth it to a teenager who has to struggle really hard to have one? In my opinion, no. But you only live once.

Walked into a dealer and baught one.
4+ years of college, full time job, and a clean record.
Your not going to be able to afford one. Keep the Lancer, get money built up. Move out of you parents....there is a lot to do before you get one.
Insurance, maint., gas...its a lot.

Well said. The Evo is not only an expensive car to own, but maintanace alone may kill some. Let alone the modding. Not for the timid.
At your age, insurance would be at least $200 a month. I am almost 21 and mine would be $200 per month if I hadn't dropped collision on the car.
I was still living at home when I bought mine and used nearly all of my money to make payments on the car. Insurance and gas will add up quickly.
Edit- About buying a new or used one, I would be very careful with a used one. You should easily assume that most people don't baby these cars, so chances would be high that, unless you bought it with 5 miles on it, it probably wasn't treated nice. Then again, I baby the hell out of the car so I could be wrong on that. Mine at 53K miles is still in great condition.
