My deal was pretty easy too. I just picked up a new Tarmac Black Evo IX on Halloween. I called them, told them i would pay dealer invoice plus tax tag and title. They called me back like 10-min later and said they had it waiting out front. The whole experience took about a half an hour.

Well, I went to the dealer yesterday here in CT to drive the car and talk numbers, as well as try and find a IX in Wicked White. Basically, at this point I could care less if I get an Evo or not.

They don't want to deal at all. I told them Southcoast is selling for $28,500 without negotiating, they come back with a best price of $30,300. On top of that they told me there is only one WW IX without SSL in the region. So I leave, and call my insurance company with a vin # for a quote. The damn car is 50% MORE to insure than my 2005 C6 Corvette!

So, with that said, now I want the car for 28k even. If I can't get it, then I'll just buy a beater and proceed with the build up of my C6 - end of story.

Paid invoice for mine , too. Thought that was fair. Plus they made money on my trade-in. Got the color I wanted, though! Good luck w/ the deal.

Well, welcome to comedy central.

Long story short, they tried to pull a fast one on me so I walked. This may go down as the silly bunch of B.S. I've seen in quite awhile.

Show up, find the sales manager I dealt with earlier and went for a drive in an MR. We get back and he says "The MR is great, its 36k." I respond with "You told me on Tuesday you'd match South Coast Mits, and even beat them". To which he responds "That is a bogus price, it is impossible to sell them at that price and they are pulling a fast one". Then he offers me almost $3000 less for my trade in than they offerred orginally". At this point I say "Ya, good luck with that" and leave.

So in a fit of curiosity I go to another dealer that's been calling me constantly for the last 2 days and go see what they can do. They actually made the first dealership look good. I'll leave it at that.

Then I decide to go to the dealership where I bought 2 eclipses from in the past. That was better, but still silly. They offerred the MR at 34.5k, which is still quite a bit more than South Coast. Then they tried to sell me two STRIPPED MR's in the back with broken windows! The cars were broken into and the front and back seats were missing!

I'm pretty much on the "Screw this B.S., this car isn't worth it" train myself now. I like the Evo, but I don't like it that much. I'm going go buy a Legacy GT or keep my s2k. I haven't had this big of a run around since my first girlfriend! And I know all dealerships tend to be dishonest, but seriously this is the first time I felt like they were trying to line me up for a gang rape!

Yep, join the club! I said 'F Mitsu all together because of the stupid-*** dealership experience. If I end up buying a DD, it will likely be either a '04-'05 STi for $23-25k, or a cheap beater and continue modding the C6...

You guys do realize that the biggest reason you feel this way about your shopping experience is due to the rediculous prices that South Coast is advertising. Of course no other store is going to sell an Evo for $3,000 below invoice. Either get one from them or be prepared to pay a couple thousand more.

If you do like the happy guys in this thread did, and my customers do, and just take an invoice deal on an Evo (which is a great deal already) then you won't have all the brain damage. Of course you paid a little more than South Coast's stupid price, but you will have had a pleasurable buying experience and good deal. Besides, a "great deal" is all about perception and has little to do with actual money.

No, there is a difference between getting a "good price" and getting flat out lied to. The sales manager knew EXACTLY what price South Coast was offerring and said he could beat it Tuesday. Its not like I dropped this price on him today! He back pedaled on the cars price AND the trade in price by $5000.

The second place offerred me less on the trade than the first, then tried to sell me the same damn car for yet ANOTHER $3000 more than the first guy.

The last numbnut tried to sell me a car that was BROKEN IN TO! And then try to convince me it should be "CHEAP" to replace front AND back seats along with a broken window! My insurance company would NEVER cover a new car that wasn't %100!

Face it, these guys hit a new low for a car sale. I've bought 6 new cars and 2 used cars since 1995 and this is BY FAR the worst experience I've had in that whole time.
