You know, you're right. I just get really frustrated with my customers expecting me to match those numbers, but your case is a little different. The dealer should have never told you he could match or beat that number. Sorry for your unfortunate experience. I've heard way too many stories like this either with a bait and switch or where they just plain lie. My recommendation is just get the car from South Coast. Don't let the *******s over at those stores discourage you from acquiring one of the most amazing cars on the road.

The second place offerred me less on the trade than the first, then tried to sell me the same damn car for yet ANOTHER $3000 more than the first guy.

The last numbnut tried to sell me a car that was BROKEN IN TO! And then try to convince me it should be "CHEAP" to replace front AND back seats along with a broken window! My insurance company would NEVER cover a new car that wasn't %100!

Face it, these guys hit a new low for a car sale. I've bought 6 new cars and 2 used cars since 1995 and this is BY FAR the worst experience I've had in that whole time.

Doesn't help really.

I'd have to sell my s2k privately and at this time of year that can... will take months. Otherwise I'd have gone this route already.

There are no Carmax things within 4 hours of me so that's no help either.

I get the same compliments on the GG. It has shades of blue and lavender in it so it has a really unique color haze in a lot of lighting.

s2kguy - your thread has been a roller coaster of emotions...me personally, i've gotten 2 used evos (1 from a non-mitsu dealer and the other private party) so i can't really comment on the dealer buyer issue - if i didn't get a sweet deal on my 2nd evo i would have definitely gone the southcoast route b/c for 1) no evo's hardly in indiana 2) the closest w/ some in stock south holland suck 3 diamonds and over charge nasty...but i really hope you get an evo i really don't think i can drive another car personally and have been very happy with it...i'm sure my fellow evom brothers can say the same - can't believe that stearlership you dealt with either that claimed to give you a lower price than southcoast...again, g/l

have you ever considered getting a dealership to ship you a car??

South Coast mitsu ships evo's all over the USA, last time i was in there a guy from Flordia was on the phone with the parts guy and he was getting a new evo ix shipped to him and he ordered a buncha parts from service and they put the parts in the trunk for him so he didnt have to pay shipping on parts..might be a good route depending on how much the dealerships are charging by you..

plus if you buy from south coast you get 30% off all OEM parts just for buying an evo through them

Been there done that. This isn't exclusive to Mitsu dealers though. I've had similiar experiences with all different dealerships. One of the more laughable was a Toyota dealer trying to sell me a used car with serious mechanical problems and when I brought those up - they said they would fix them if I bought an extended warranty on the car

You shouldn't really be too suprised. If you aren't willing to buy a car then and there, you should pretty much expect a mouthful of bull**** just to get you to come back in.

Sad thing is, these bull**** tricks work on most people or they wouldn't do them. I have friends who have given in to the "we made a mistake when we talked yesterday and I actually overvalued your trade-in by $x,000."

get the MR it is better, the ssl does come with a sunroof but it only weighs more because you dont get the alum roof and you have a gay sub in the back. get the mr definately. oh and white or grey are both sick colors so whatever you choose will look good, i think if you are going to mod the cars exterior though, the white or black will look better check these out...

Do you have ANY concept of how hard it is to sell a 2 seat rear wheel drive convertible in the North East in November? If it was May, I'd have a chance. At this time a year, I MIGHT sell it sometime in Febuary.

South Coast can have every deal on the planet and it doesn't do crap for me right now.

well good things come to those who wait...dont rush it, you'll eventually get what you want and maybe save more money than you think by waiting
