well to many, you were ripped off. if you have the 6 grand just laying around and you have money like that, then you are just one of those rich bastards. but if a person was smart with their money, then they wouldnt see justification on paying 6000 over. in the end you got ripped off even if you wanted to pay it. these cars should even be that high, but since its in high demand, then dealers can mark up and have people like u pay ridiculous prices. that affects us because since there are idiots out there that will fall for dealers prices, then its a little harder to haggle them down. honestly, i just dont think the MR is worth paying THAT much more.

you had to go out of your way and outbid 4 other people? well thats your stupidity because you could have went to another dealership and may have gotten a better price or whatever. Like one said here, the SE is probably better choice, and those are still cheaper than the MR and the only thing you arent getting is the suspension and 6 speed, which most likely, people would change anyways......so all in all, you still got ripped off even though you dont care paying what the dealer wants.

First off, I said "What if" as a preface to my statements. None of the the above apply to me, I was using them as an illustration to prove a point which you obviously missed. Secondly, I feel that your observations are disregarding the laws of supply and demand as it refers to dealer markup prices and the availability of the vehicle. And thirdly, "the SE is probably better choice" is entirely subjective and an endorsement of anothers opinion, not your own. I would like to end this by saying that if he got the car that he wanted and is satisfied with the price paid, the deal was equal on both sides. If either party is dissatisfied with some part of the deal, then they may claim a 'ripped off' status. Yeah capitalism!

You're still missing the point. No matter what one paid, if he's comfortable with the price and enjoys his purchase, he didn't get ripped-off by definition.

I purchased a SE without even considering a MR (for non-monetary reasons). I would have bought another RS if it had better headlights. Does that mean that a MR is a bad value? Of course not! It simply means that another model was a better fit for me and it would be ridiculous to assume the same could apply to everyone else.

 

it wasnt meant to be serious, but this question is asked about 3 times a day. so i say if you question it its not worth it because that means you made an uninformed choice and have no idea what you payed for. as for me im perfectly happy with my MR and knew exactly what i was getting and why i was paying for it. although i do miss my sunroof from my viii. plus if you was happy and knew what he was getting he wouldnt be questioning it he would be happily driving his MR.

 

What get's me is the people who say the MR is a ripoff and then you see all kinds of threads of people wanting to buy HID's,Blistiens,vortex-genarators,zero lift kit's BBS wheels and so on to put on their cars.

 

the reasons that dealers mark up the price is because its a hot car and there isnt enough for everyone to get one and therefore the demand is higher than the supply.....isnt that how supply and demand works?

 

OK, I am on here every day and have not heard this topic mentioned "about 3 times a day." which is why I decided to respond to it. You may check my profile thread log on here to see if I am telling the truth. I took this as serious as a fellow EvoM member had a legitimate question and I wanted to respond. I am glad that I provoked some serious discussion as it may help him or others with their choice.

Yeah, pretty much you got it, but that was a very small part of my response to your post.

 

there are countless GSR or MR which one should i get and is the MR worth it threads. im exagerating but there is at least one new one a day, and there was a point where it seemed like there was at least 3 a day. and i gave serious responses after. the MR is worth it if you know what you are getting and paying for. if you are just going to get coilovers and change the rims and track the hell out of the car and break the 4th gear, there is no point in paying extra for the MR.

 

If you're going to track it, get an oil cooler or something for the tranny fluid.

 

ok, so to your "illustration", take my post and change all the "you's" and put in the word "whoever" and then it wouldnt be direct only to you, but to whoever would be in that position that you showed.

about the whole "SE" thing, you can look at post number 5 where i mentioned gettin one over the MR.....so i dont get your point about endorsing ones opinion which was not my own. I was just repeating what he was saying because its a short summary of what i agreed with. it is subjective but like i said, the only thing you really get out of the MR is the 6 speed. but it depends on what you (wait i shouldnt use that word cuz some people may think that i am refering to them), it depends on what the buyer is going to do with the car. i just dont see the justification of paying more for just a 6 speed, bilsteins, and BBS wheels if you arent going to take the car straight to the track and not do any mods to it.

 

While I don't agree and you are somewhat sarcastic, "it depends on what the buyer is going to do with the car." is valid, but the follow-on comments are not helpful. I would like to say that if the car is to his needs, it is good. If not, then a mistake was made somewhere.

 

Wow. Nice feed back so far. A lot of you have valid points. The fact is, it is too late. Already bought and own my MR. No complaints. But I think a lot of you guys are posting under the assumption that I am going to drag race this or street race hard. I usings this as a Daily Driver and something for fun. Evo is a fun and quick car, stock.

I guess I just like the feeling of saying I got a MR. Its like saying u drive a BMW. Eh, what ever. M3 or M5 oh sh#$t, now we are talking. But infact I actually paid under invoice for my MR. Probably same price many have paid for an Se or RS.
