AEM CAI Vs. Warrenty

I wanted to know if any of you know if installing the AEM Cold Air Intake is going to void the warrenty on the new 2003 lancer Oz-Rally. And also was curious if the regular CAI for the 2003 Lancer was going to fit on the 2003 Lancer OZ-Rally.

it will fit aslong as you have a manual tranny. as for warrenty just put back on the stock if you need service.

Agreed on the 5spd. Don't force it in an AT. As for warranty, know your rights. http://www.sema.org

Gonna move to the newbie forum since you could have answered both of these questions by searching or reading around first.

Thanks for the fast response. I had searched around, not using the search feature but just reading other peoples mods and stuff. none of the ones I looked at listed what types of lancer they had whether it was 2002 or 2003 or whether it was the OZ. From all my searching, my assumption is that the OZ and the regular Lancer are exactly the same other then the obvious, but I was unsure of the engine components. Anyway thanks for the information I am going to order the AEM CAI, and it is a manual

It doesn't matter if you own a 1972 Hugo. In warranty is in warranty.

I wasn't refering to the warranty, I was refering to whether the CAI would work on a 2003 Lancer OZ-Rally, because nobody was posting what type of car they had when they added on of these to there car. The ones that did just put Lancer. You can tell I am definitally a Newbie.

Gotcha. Misunderstood.

'02 and '03 are mechanically identical.

all you really need to know: the aem cai won't fit the automatic lancer because the transmission blocks the opening for it to come down underneath the car.

you won't technically void the warranty just by putting the aftermarket part in, but if you experience a problem with the engine, take it in t oget serviced, and they prove that the problem was directly the fault of the aftermarket part, it voids the warranty. hope that helps ya out

you also have to realize that the dealer isn't gonna fix ur car without a fight. my suggestion is if ur gonna keep the intake on when taking it to the dealer to be serviced, to learn about the intake. learn what an intake does, what parts of the car it affects etc etc.

tru story. i just got my galant from the dealer on friday. its like the third time it was brought to the dealer to get serviced for the same problem. first time they blamed the intake and let my mom go on her merry way. second time they blamed the injen intake again. luckily i brought it to the dealer and proved to the tech that it wasn't the intake. but he wouldn't let go without a fight. he tried to blame it on my aftermarket muffler too. but then the tech forgot to look @ the back of the car to see my stock muffler. so yea they aren't gonna fix ur car without a fight.

with all that said, after my lil talk and proving that it wasn't my aftermarket parts, they replaced my lifters and replaced a cracked flex plate, all under warranty.

also, while modding your car, don't forget to read the terms of ur warranty too. it states what will and won't void your warranty.
