with every possible option) did I hate the car at first, yes and I was mad at my dad, but after about 2 weeks I realized that this was the right car for me. I learned how to drive an automatic safe car for the first 6 months. Then my dad gave away my jeep to his brother and gave me his old modified 5.7L Cherrokee which was awsome. Soon though, matinence on a 1998 car became silly and we got rid of that too. All this time, I had totally forgotten about the need for speed I had because I was learning to drive. I got one more Jeep (another 5.7L hemi) and then just when I applied to College (2 months ago) I got my Evo. Would I have ever been ready to drive the Evo with out the almost 2 years of driving. No Way. Trust me, it's too much power. Get something quick, nice and safe (BMW 3 Series, G35 Sedan, A4, Jetta VR6) all fun cars that are fast, but safe and all are really nice, plus you can even tune them. I know your getting all hyped up for an Evo, but no one here wants to see another person get hurt (or another evo). I just needed to say this because one of my friends got an S4 and crashed it two weeks after his liscense test because he thought he could do anything.

As an auto enthusiast, I can't blame him for wanting cars he mentioned.
Especiallly, when he is lucky enough to have parents with money who are willing to buy him a car.
As much as we could attempt to dissuade him, I highly doubt he would change his mind.
My suggestion is buy the car that you want to.
But spend some time going to several driving schools including race schools.
Learn to drive well, appreciate and respect the performance of the car.

Get a civic si or a Scion Tc and learn how to drive. Tune them, take driving lessons/race lessons, and then get an Evo.
If you have no license, you obviously do not know how to drive. If you don't know how to drive, don't get a race car.
Learn to drive well, and then get your car!
EvoIX, or wait for the X.

Funny story, the first day my cusuin got his evo (first car too) he scratched his rims on the curb, and brushed his moms minivan...
He didn't even noticed until I pointed it out...
I had a lot of little with my first car too, which I try to block out of my memory...
But even so.... I would definitely get the EVO at sixteen if I had the chance! Just be careful... Just because you are driving a car that was made by God, it doesn't mean you are a God.

you know its funny. his parents probably dont even know what a evo is. just a winged up mitsubishi from the movies. and it has a 4cyl it cant be dangerous. ignorance is bliss until you have to bury your son still attached to his recaro's. sure you want an evo, 8 or 9 who cares, king of the 4cyl's. best light to light car you can buy in my opinion. fun fun fun. but remember "with great power, comes great responsiblity"(cant beleive i said that) learn to drive first, get some experience and as much as i wish you would listen to this and all the other members on this board i know you wont. you sound just like my brother at his age. i made the mistake of giving my younger brother my 450 hp gst one night and my mother and father still havent forgiven me, its been 3 years. i still see him every november for his birthday, he is buried at a cemetary on 117th and kendal drive on miami about 2 blocks from my house. i want you to think about this very carefully before u go to the dealership. if not for yourself think about the other people you could take from their families, if you hit or crash into someone else becasue you cant control the high hp evo or car your parents bought you.
just think about it.........................please.............

I know you don't want to hear it, but it is just not a good idea. Numerous threads have come on here about young people who crash their cars. In some cases it is because of pure and simple stupidity, but in a lot of cases it is simply because they are young and don't have the experience to handle a 300 hp car. Also think about things like insurance, who's going to pay for that and for how long (are you going to let your parents cover this until you're 25?), gas, premium or higher is not cheap, maintenance, look at how much a tire costs, etc.. Buy a car that is cheap, fun and most importantly, reliable and of a suitable level for your ability. A civic si, mazdaspeed3, bmw 3 series, etc. are all good cars that should be plenty fast enough for you.
civic EG hatch.
i love them lol.
im just glad I didn't have an evo for my first car.
I probably would've messed that car up bad.
The thing that it took the longest for me to realize was that even if I'm driving fine, someone else can fck your junk up because noone pays attention on their cellphones and stuff. I got hit by a guy that ran a red light when I had a green turn arrow on his way home from work at 6am because he fell asleep while I was on my way to school. **** like that just makes you realize that even if its not your fault you can still get killed so when you're on the road you really need to watch out for all the other idiots out there.
After that, I went from driving pretty aggressive to being careful as fck because I don't want anyone to mess up my evo now lol.
I would recommend getting a stickshift for your first car though. I did and it really helped me to learn early and also when you're driving a stick it commands a lot more attention to your car and the road so you don't have time to be talking away on your cellphone while doing your makeup and eating your bigmac.

and im gonna have to reiterate what everyone else has already said. Your 16. Your parents have money and will buy you a car. You want an evo/sti/bmw. Your parents probably don't know much about these cars especially the sti and evo. If you get this as your first car, that will be the worst decision you can make. Your 16 and your just learning how to drive and you want an AWD/Turbo 300hp car ? Your parents might as well buy a headstone now. Because your going to beat on this car from the moment its off the lot and have no regard for anything else and will most likely get into an accident. Look at the 18 girl who was literally mangled along with the porsche she was driving when she got into an accident, or purevibez younger brother who is dead..or even better yet recently on another forum a kid's older brother who was driving a saturn ion redline was street racing with a silver nissan early in the morning and crashed into an 80some year old lady driving and RIPPED her car in half. The elderly woman obviously died and he is know being charged with vehicular manslaughter. These are only a few cases, there are MANY others like this
but hey ignorance is bliss...we're only telling you the truth not what you want to hear..
Well considering he hasn't posted in a while, I'm betting he has taking the traditional immature stance of "those guys don't know they're talking about, I might be 16 and have no driving experience but I can easily handle a 300 hp car since I know everything".
i would get a regular wrx and then once you learn how to drive, sell it and buy an evo. Maybe even buy something cheaper first to get some experience with, that wont make you cry when you accidentally run into curbs, poles, other cars etc... Good luck!
