Evo n00b need help! 1st car!
Why not just go for a Hayabusa for your first vehicle if you are intent on living fast and dangerous? I thought (like most) that I was indestructable at 16 also but it is only a matter of time until reality sneaks up to give you a smack in the face. The lucky ones get to walk away from that smack but many don't.
The first thing I learn how to drive was a truck 5 speed back in Latin America at age 15. Then I drove my dad's Mitsubishi Montero 5 speed, so on and so forth. So yeah I wouldn't suggest getting an Evo at such tender age it's dangerous unless of course you're Ricky Bobby's son

Quit bashing the kid... It's enough... If you tell him once and he doesn't listen what make you think that saying it OVER AND OVER agian will make him listen... It is his own decision, not any of ours... And ambystom why do you care so much... especially about the insurance... I'm pretty sure it says you drive a Lancer ES... Not affected very much by accidents on Evolutions... jealous by chance??? It is hard to find someone that hasn't been in an accident... and don't give me this 9/10 kids will be in an accident if you don't have any real numbers... You can't back that until you get real evidence... I know someone that recently got into a wreck in his evo... He's 21 so I guess you are saying that 21s aren't fit for an evo and that they are also the ones to blame for high premiums... Then find me an age group that hasn't wreck an evo and only let them drive it... And yes I am defending this guy because I am one of those so called "rare" 16 y/o evo owners... Been driving it for 5 months now (I'm actually 17 now)... And I have 0 accidents and 0 tickets... Guess I'm in the so called 10% category...
To the person that said people rarely man up to when they fall for peer pressure... I admit, I have before but never in my car and nothing that would risk my life and the lives around me...

like alot of people on this forum i have been driving longer then you have been alive. almost every kid that i knew in highschool who's parents bought them a fast car (mostly camaro's , mustangs, ta's back then) wrecked their car. including my brother. so when i turned 16 my dad bought me a cavilier. i was pissed my brother got a sick '83 camaro berlinetta and i got a **** box. i drove that car for 9 years without a major accident. i have kids now and i have to say looking back is that my old man was one of the smartest guys around, and in 12 years when my son turns 16 he is getting a safe boring car. just be please be safe with whatever you get. there is nothing more tragic then a young person losing his life. here's a thought let your dad read this thread. after that if he won't let you have an evo then maybe it was the best choice. after all he knows you better then the people on this board. thanks and good luck.

*hint* man don;t start with the evom members most are mature people some parents some even more than twice your age. they are only lookin out for u i am almost 19 and i kno i would be dead if i bought an evo at 16 thankfully i waited and learned to drive on my lancer. now i feel confident to own an evo so my parents are getting me one in may. get driving experience under your belt first cause most accidents aren't even your fault so u gotta learn how to avoid those.
