There are responsible kids, but they are rare. Now then, if ten kids say they are responsible, realistically only one of them is telling the truth/is actually mature. I'm sorry, but you are not experienced. You're 16, I've been driving longer than you've have pubes.

nice to know you know when that happened. Like you say there are people like this. And there is no way you can tell wether or not I am, you will have to take my word for it. and I feel that a persons' word/promise is the most important thing they have to give and when you lie, you lose all credibility.

Dear God,

This is my prayer.... I hope that young 16 year old kids will reconsider getting an EVO as their first car especially when they have little to no experience with high perfomance cars. My hope is that they dont get into an accident and hurt themselves, other people, in addition to wrecking the car and causing everyone elses insurance premiums to go up...

Please allow your spirit to guide the parents in their decision making... I hope that they make the right choice and get the kid a slower car to start off with.....

Amen

Here's my theory on any thread that falls along these lines (regardless of the age of the original poster):

I you have to post a thread to help make a decision on which car to buy, you're not ready any of the cars on your list.

I also believe that there is no substitute for experience. Until you've convinced yourself of that, don't even bother driving.

Posting on a heavily biased car web site is a waste of time. Want a "man" lesson? Make your own damn decision.

'Nuff said.

No I can't tell exactly who you are, but probability states that you are probably in the 90% not the 10%. Combined with your lack of experience this gives me a strong idea that you are not mature enough or ready to get a car like an evo. It almost seems like every month we get some kid saying "oh I'm responsible I won't crash" and a month later we have a thread entitled "I crashed my evo". I'm sure is it very tempting to get a car with 300 hp, especially when your parents are willing to buy it for you, but it is not a good idea. Even with your age aside, insurance is going to kill you, as people have said over and over. Repairs are not cheap, maintenance is not cheap, the car is not easy to learn on, etc..

Probability states that everyone, sometime in their life, will get into a car crash. So youre going to contribute to the premiums too. Alright how about this ill "man-up" #@$% some of you im getting my evo next weeknd.

I have already been in two accidents, one was my fault the other was in my buddies van. It happened within 6 months of getting my car and was the result of a lack of experience. I was lucky and there was no damage to either car in my accident (I was coming to a stop and just got too close to the car in front) but unfortunately not everyone is so lucky. Toss in 300 hp, a young mind and little to no real experience with a performance car and you have a really bad mixture just waiting to go bad.

I've been driving for 15+ years and I've never been in an accident (although I'm wise enough to "never say never").

Why should I contribute anything (premiums-wise) at this point?

Congrats on your desicion. How much of this thread actually helped you make your decision?

The few teens who got their evos young like me and said they havent been in any crashes and it was one of their favorite/best purchases. So id say 10%, a total of 3 people.

Here's some stats for you and your parents.

Although judging by your response you don't give a damn what people older and wiser (lol I never thought I'd have to say that at 21) than you think, you're perfectly content listening to people just as young and immature as you.

I'm impressed already. You actually presented some honest, no BS statistics (and I didn't even expect an actual response to that question).

Most major corporations can't even present "real" statistics.

Enjoy your new ride! Be safe and smart...

It helps when youre narrow-minded.
