first upgrade?

hi everyone out here...
ok here's my question... just want an opinion... what should my first upgrade be... i know the handling is amazing... but i'm thinking of throwing in the bar in the trunk to tighten the back as well... by cuzzin thinks i should just do motor... i also want to know what's a good intake to put on... ? and any warranty issues i might incur while doing these things... and i know they have to prove that the specfic part is the problem to void the warranty...

If you have a tiny budget then get yourself a boost gauge before you do anything else. I read on yoiur signature Evo MR black? is it the SE version?

There's a lot of Mitsu warranty horror stories... do yourself a favor and buy fluids, filters, etc. straight from the dealership and save your receipts. If you so much as put a different brand fluid in, they may try to refuse warranty work.

Anyways, as far as mods... Intake is not needed, not for a long time... get a K&N drop in and you'll be fine. In fact, an intake will cause problems unless you get tuned, so forget it.

I spent about a months time researching on EvoM for various Stage 1 mods... I changed my mind several times, between various Power Packages, etc. There are some good deals from Buschur and Gruppe-S if you are looking to spend good money.

I ended up ordering a Helix TBE w/ O2 Housing from Gruppe-S, plus a Helix HFC from an EvoM member (those HFC are impossible to find)

The reason I went this route is because I spent under $1000 and I'll likely be at 300whp without a tune, and if anything happens, I should be able to return exhaust to stock before sending in for warranty work. When I get some more money and when I'm confident I don't have a lemon, I'll do fuel pump, suspension, and full custom tune... that's my 3 year plan, and I'm hoping to hit 350whp after the tune.

In reality, most veterans of EvoM will say the first mod should be the driver mod... in other words... after you car is broken in, take it out and really learn it... AutoX if possible... then you will know what to do.... if, after really learning the car, you crave tighter suspension, then that should be your first mod. If you just drive on the street and/or drag strip, then you'll end up with a turbo-back et al.

Yes I do..all paid off too.. but insurance is actually no cheap at all due to the proximity to Nogales, Mexico and the border of Mexico in general.

In you are planning on keeping the car simple, then get a flash, air filter and a good MBC. It all depends on what you want to do with the car, if you have plans on getting an exhaust then wait get the exhaust and do the flash after.

Are you kidding me? why is it hard to find?, I have 3 different HFC in my garage from 3 different vendors and I had absolutely no problems finding them.

If you are refering as"hard to find" as a used 3"HFC, it wouldn't even apply as you can get a new one for around $149 like I did., basicly I am implying that is better to get them new for a small price difference.

I am not trying to doubt you but did you had hard time finding 3" HFC?

^^^^That is some optimistic number for just a TB with a o2 housing and no tune I think .

Again, I am not trying to step on your toes.

Go all out from the get go! That will keep you from changing parts later on for better ones. I mean you always gonna want more, so set a goal and go for it

the only way to keep an exhaust like the hi power quiet is to put in the silencer...

but my opinion to you is get a Buschur racing TBE with the magnaflow muffler and you will be fine!

I was referring to the Helix HFC specifically... all the EvoM venders are out of stock and there's aren't many members selling theirs so...

And as far as 300whp without a tune... I don't think it's too optimistic... Import Tuner Magazine did K&N, TBE, and EBC and put down 298whp without tune.... plus I'm gonna have O2 housing. If you gain 5 from K&N, 25 from TBE, 10 from O2, and 5 from MBC... well you're over 300

These numbers, of course, are on a dynojet dyno.

I have the HKS Hi Power and I don't think it is that loud at all. I was worried about getting an exhaust that was loud, but I heard the HKS one in person and liked it a lot. Try to hit up a local Evo meet or something to hear some exhausts before you make your decision.
