I own an 04 mustang gt, and to tell you the truth it is a great car. Except for the obsolete design. The two valve 4.6 takes alot of work to make very fast. The handling is not there, but all in all it s a sweet ride. I love the rumble, the sound system is great the gauges are in good alignment.
Ok I am gonna get to it I am fed up with the gas it guzzles, the money needed to makeit faster the fact its just not going to be as good as i thought i could make it.
Just asking a few questions about the evo....
Maintence costs what do they look like?
Suspension does it need work out of the box is it good to go..
How much do i need to make this car hit low elevens?
And is it worth the 33k or where could i find an evo cheaper
oo and which is the best evo is any one good or is one a p o s over another?
thanks chris

TO answer a few o your questions, generally from what Ive seen, Evos are somewhat expensive to maintain. And 33k depends on what model of evo? One of the best dealerships with the best prices are on here: South Coast Mitsubishi. Most people agree that Model (not trim) the IX is the best and every Evo gets better as time goes on (VIII better than the VII and Ix better than the VIII).
^Why another car? This one is great.
My maintenance cost is low, and the suspension is good (although a little rough for DD). Get the IX GSR over anything (my opinion) unless you want the RS for racing.
You can find a IX GSR for about 29k. RS for about 26k (?). If you wanna hit low 11's, I'd say about 6k will get you there.
Theres GT35R and meth.

Yes, it's great, but there are better cars for drag racing like the one he already has. The Evo won't save him gas, as he hopes, he'll burn out the clutch, then the transfer case and then the tranny, unless he puts a lot of time into learning how to launch, when he could be having an easier time with something more suitable for his needs.
You just got the car. Compare the maintenance costs with a Mustang.
<grin> The Evo is a street-legal rally car, not a boulevard cruiser.
I'm surprised to see you assert the above so confidently, since you were unsure of the constraints at play less than a month ago.

The maintenance cost of the Evo is going to be a lot higher. Especially if you like to drive it hard.
Gas mileage is not going to be any better if you keep on boosting. I fill my tank twice a week.
Suspension is good to go out of the box.
You can run 11s w/ stock turbo. Buy a IX. Put on tbe ($600), intake ($150), mbc ($90), fuel pump ($100), head-studs ($110), bov (to hold the 25+psi levels ~$150-300), and a good alky kit ($500) with a full custom tune ($550 on a IX) and you should be able to run 11.5 @ 118-119mph. At least thats the best I have seen personally from my friends.
Be ready to change your clutch at about 15K miles with that kind of power though... ($1200-$3000+) w/ install.

Nah i understand your thing with the whole hes a mustang guy he loves str8 lines. No not the case I would love to take the evo to the track and give it a good thrashing. I kind want an all around car and the evo looks like a good match, better than an scooby. Not to mention so many people on streetfire and so on have evos that on a straight line make a lambo run in shame, ie type in top gear and check out the lambo vs evo fq400( i know its the japenese version) but the foundation is still there.
Also anyone have any insight on how sick the X will be or how about this nissan gt-r

LOL@ sucking gas. To have any real fun in the evo, you'll eat gas like there's no tomorrow!! I'm not an expert, but I love the stock suspension. Although I've seen them have some body roll when you REALLY get into it in the corners. But it handles great. Maintenance is pretty expensive. An oil change will cost you 60 bux unless you do it yourself. The Evo IX SE is my favorite. I mean the MR is awesome too, but the SE is cheaper and you don't get that much less than you would in an MR.
