noob here....introducing myself.

Hey everyone, how goes it. I have been browsing the board for a few days....seems like a cool board. My name is Matt, currently drive a 1998 Pontiac TransAm with some mods. After looking at a number of cars I am almost positive I will be buying an EVO pretty soon. I looked at stangs, E36 M3s, trucks, etc. and I think the EVO is the way to go. I need something with awd for snow driving(colorado) and it would nice to have a fun daily driver to autocross, road race, drag and probably mod That way I can do some more work on the LS1 and not drive it daily.... anyways, looking forward to learning more about EVOs and buying one......

not too many cars out there where you can competitively auto-x and drag when you pull out of the dealership.

one of my coworkers has a 99 vette, he's putting about 415hp to the rear wheels (intake, headers, new gear). and his wife wants him to make it faster. she drives it though, hes got a 2000 duramax that hes got putting out 500hp and 700lb/ft of torque.
crazy bastige.

I can afford it right now but I am thinking about waiting till I get my tax return.....I have been looking around though and found a few that are pretty affordable. I am not going to buy brand new but I want something with somewhat low miles.

EAFO...to get 415 rwhp out of an LS1 you probably need a cam. Headers and intake will put you around 350ish

I think he did that too....he said the only thing he can really do now to get more power is a shot of nitrous, and he doesn't want to do that.
especially now that he can work on his truck.

Good luck searching and purchasing an Evo. If you can find a used IX for a good price I would suggest that.

Well if he doesn't have heads he could do heads....a good heads cam package can net almost 500 rwhp. A bigger cam could get him over 430 rwhp on the stock heads. Nitrous is a lot of fun on LS1s.....trust me.

A turbo diesel truck would be a LOT of fun too.
