NO, I've never heard of that compustar alarm. Now, if it really works as you say, it would be nice to have. My experience with TTs is limited to simple turbo timers. They allow the engine tu continue running for a predetermined length of time after the ignition key is removed. Still, I think the TT is unnecessary for a regular driver or even guys like me who tend to drive a little more "spiritedly". by the time I pull into the parking lot in my job or my house, the cars has been off boost for quite a while... Besides, just letting the car idle is wasteful of fuel. Still, a nice alarm would be something that I definitely would like to have.

I was going to get the alarm because DEI also offers an autostart/turbotimer combo, but I'm pretty sure that the TT part of it is a set time, which would be annoying when you drive to the store and back. If someone has it please post how it works.
The TT harness is literally placed inline with the steering column plug. The ONLY wire that needs to be spliced is the parking brake/safety wire. Takes 30min to install.
I know that the Greddy and Blitz have a couple different settings: Rpm based timing where if you drive about a set rpm, it begins to increase cool down time. If you dip below those rpms, it REDUCES the cool down time. And the other is a preset time.
The blitz is nice and small, and has a boost gauge included, but because it's so small the only use is that it flashes red when you hit your overboost warning. It has a lap timer, and peak hold.

if you press the brakes while taking out the key, it will deactivate the TT. Besides DEI will not install a remote start/turbo-timer legally for a manual transmission.
i say go for it! if you dont like it.. im sure you can sell it or just be out the couple bucks.. but honestly sometimes its nice to have.. ad other times you dont need it.. so.. to each is own there!
you don't need turbo timer unless you like toys.
the fact is 99% when you driving the car don't need it. The rest,/not an autox race or drag race more like a road course ,couple of hot laps./ you stay in the car for a minute and you good . But really ,how many times this is going to happen? And also if you do long race most likely you will have a cool down lap. Your breaks need it too,if i do hard run, the least i will worry is a turbo... so basicly keep that money for something else.

Its not a mod for people who like toys. Its a convenience and peace of mind that you don't have to stand there and wait to shut the car off. True, you might not need it 90% of the time but we're all driving a $26k-$35k car. Don't you want to make the car last? There is nobody on EvoM that doesn't drive their car hard.
Besides its NOT only for a cool down either....
At the same time the car is cooling down the lubricating oil from the engine is able to circulate properly so the turbine won't burn the lubricating oil that would otherwise be trapped within the charger with the turbine rotating at high speed. Your turbo is Fracked up if you have burned oil in your turbo lines.
A $100 investment in the longevity of your cars life should be more than a novelty for people who like 'toys'.

If you pull up to work and your turbo looks like the one on the AMS time attack car then I'm scared to find out what your poor brakes do when you jump out and go into work. There is a reason why you do cool down laps.. its not just the turbo that needs to be cooled down. Brakes, tranny, IC, everything gets hot and when you pull up and leave your car running alot of that stuff is not cooling down.. it's just getting hotter. My experience is if I let my car idle after a drive the oil temp goes up.. not down.

that means you did not wait long enough. it should go up because there is no air flow coming from the front to cool the engine. it will cool down if you wait for a few minutes. Imagine how fast it goes up when you turn it off.
lol ok..... so im confused.... is it worth getting a turbo timer or nor?
from what i've read...... if your car is modded or if u rip on yur car a lot, then its worth it, because no one is going to wait 10 minutes or take a cool down lap.
otherwise if you drive normally you really dont need a turbo timer..... In a way, you are your own turbo timer..... personally I would not get the turbo timer and just take the extra time to just do a cool down. But then again as before, some people do not have the time to wait... and anyone can understand that. So only get a TT only if u need it?

Just drive the last few blocks to your destination normally and you wont need a turbo timer, for me it's easy. I dont drive crazy around work (downtown area) or in my residential neighborhood so I dont even have to think about it. Normal highway driving does not make your oil or brakes hot. When I went to a HPDE event that was the first time my turbo and brakes have ever really gotten hot and when you come off the track they have a cool down area that you drive 20mph in lazy circles to cool down the car. I have a hard time believing that most people ever get their turbos or brakes hot enough on the street to really need cool down laps. The track is a different story.
