You made a very good point. I'd forgotten how hot the brakes get during a track session. I remember we would park the cars after some hot laps and made sure "not" to apply the parking brake. We also allowed the cars (even NA cars) to idle for a few moments before shutting them down with the hood open....

There is a reason why you do cool down laps.. its not just the turbo that needs to be cooled down. Brakes, tranny, IC, everything gets hot and when you pull up and leave your car running alot of that stuff is not cooling down.. it's just getting hotter. My experience is if I let my car idle after a drive the oil temp goes up.. not down.
I got an idea for these racer wannabees. Why not make for them a "turbo-brake timer/automatic hood opener"? Imagine how cool it would be to stop you car after the trip to the market, turn off the keys, pull up the e-brake, jump out the car and lock the door only to see your still running car roll down an incline into traffic with the hood open while you're running after it.

After the towtruck arrives and the whole thing is sorted out, at least you'll know your precious turbo got cooled down gently and your barke rotors could not possibly be warped
