Air intake Question

Will the K&N typhoon intake system work on a EVO IX? I saw it on evomoto.com, but it showed it was for the EVO III. Both the EVO III and IX look identical to me under the hood. Does anyone have this intake already on a IX? Please give me your feed back. Thanks

That's just about the worst intake you could install. Stick with the factory intake and do a simple drop-in filter.

No, the K&N will NOT work is the best answer.

Like mentioned above, just go with a drop-in (for minor future mods) or a proven intake setup (for major future mods) + a tune.

Just go with the drop-in... The stock intake system on the IX is fine. The drop in is all that you will need. Spend the rest of your time and efforts and other mods...

Just buy an open element filter and use it with the stock rubber MAF pipe. The aftermarket MAF pipes cause intakes to run poorly.

Look into AMS ($60) or Apexi (~120)

there a lot of talk on these forums about intakes! damn mitsubishi should just used a map sensor on the manifold and it would make things so much easier! my srt-4 was set up that way and i could use what ever intake i wanted!.. i miss that. but any ways question.

my car is flashed for the hks RS intake. currently the stocker is on it tho. i want to keep the airbox for the sound purposes and just use a drop in. am i looking at possible power loss keeping it this way?the intake was removed befor i bought the car but i still flashed for it. and 400 bucks is a lot of money. suggestions??

The box will muffle your sound. You should use the intake pipe and get you an add on filter, the sound will be much louder

Very bad idea to be flashed for an intake but not have one - fix that immediately even if you just get a $50 e-flash.

Dark-Knight, yes the Typhoon will fit, but if you're even looking at that intake, then you haven't done any research on here whatsoever. We should probably just let you spend your $200+ and mess up your Evo, but we're not that mean. Don't touch that intake...

Considering that it wont flow much better then the stock intake with a drop in filter I dont think it would pose much of a proble, but chances are your not going to gain anything from it.
