Normal boost readings for a IX?

It seems my boost doesn't come on until over 3K in 3rd with a heavy throttle under normal driving...seems to be between 11-12 psi and with a good shift to 4th with heavy not WOT in 4th it will go up 16-18psi. Mods in sig and haven't installed my dynoflash yet...waiting on my MBC. With normal daily driving I don't register boost on my autometer gauge at all on the 1-2 shift under light acceleration...sounds normal right? First turbo...I know LS1s though

Check for boost leaks! if that isnt it give Al a call there could be a slight chance your car isnt liking the tune. VERY SLIGHT CHANCE but I would check for leaks first . Good Luck

I haven't installed the tune yet. Just the K&N and Greddy. The boost gauge is sealed real well. What is off? The psi? Boost not until 3rd? Can someone be a little more specific? This is only my stock tune with 700 miles on the odometer and probably pig rich. Looking for some more advice.

Are you saying the car has no boost until 3rd gear? Turbo cars dont normally generate alot of boost in 1st gear, but second and third gear should pull strongly and you should be able to hit at least 19psi in both with the stock BCS. I've seen some later manufactured IX's that didnt make much boost until a boost controller was installed. The one I'm thinking of was made in July 06 and it would only hit 1.1 bar on the stock gauge. Also it doesnt look like you warranty cancelling mods on your car, you could take it to the shop. Has it always been like this or is this something that has changed? Did it change after you installed something or did some work on your car?

Likely suspects.

1. Boost Leak
2. Inaccurate gauge or installed wrong (where is it connected?)
3. Problem with stock BCS

Note: The factory boost gauge connects to a T on the manifold, that T has piece of brass in it that protects the factory boost gauge from spikes. If you connected your aftermarket boost gauge to this T then you might not be seeing the tru amount of boost to your gauge. Try replacing that T with a regular or chaining it behind a regular T if your running both boost gauges.

Did some runs and this is what I came up with:

1st Gear: 4 psi at 4K
2nd Gear: 8 psi at 4K
3rd Gear: 10 psi at 4K
4th Gear: 18 psi at 4200
5th Gear: 14 psi at 3200

It seems I'm about 2psi short...AND I FOUND THE PROBLEM. I have a big fat exhaust leak where my 3" Greddy SP2 mounts to my stock cat. I guess I'm gonna by me a 3" test pipe
