I doubt they would even take a deposit. Too far out yet.

Wouldn't you want to see and hear about the car in action when its released, instead of just obligating yourself to buy it. What would you do if you totaly hate the car? You should wait for them to be on showroom floors before you go and do something like that, this way you can look the car over and feel the clutch. Maybe the interior isn't to your liking, you don't know until you actualy get into one and play around with all the buttons and crap.
Rember push all the buttons and turn all the knobs first.

I wouldn't do that if I were you . Just wait for the car, test drive it then buy it. What's the rush anyway?

I can not get over the fact the new Lancer is a world vehicle designed by Dodge, Hyundai and of coarse Mitsubishi. Worse is the engine is shared as well. From what the magazines say the only difference between the engines is the head design.

I personally like pure breed vehicle's with pedigrees

A friend of mine said he put a deposit down on one in Florida. He put down the 3rd deposit at that dealership. I don't know where he went, though.

Why would a person put money down on something that has not been thoroughly tested yet? It is one thing to want something that is brand new, but it's different if it hasn't been tested to find out its quarks and idiosyncracies. I say just wait.

I'd do it if I had the money. My friend just put a deposit down and signed a contract on a Lexus IS-F, which isn't due out for a while either. If you want to avoid the markup and all that BS, put a deposit down and sign a contract saying that you will get one of their first shipment for MSRP.

This is assuming there will be a markup. What if the demand isn't there and the market is flooded with supply? Dealerships, along with Mitsubishi Motors, will drop the prices to get rid of them. It's impossible to forecast what exactly will happen so why not just wait out the big waves of initial interest?

I am sure there will be a demand just by putting the name "Evolution" on it. Not everyone who wants or owns an evolution is on this board. A lot of those same people have no idea what kind of engine will be in it and what ACD is. They are not going to be worried about the same issues we will. Not a penny over MSRP can be very attractive for a BRAND NEW car that just hit the market.
Especially to someone who does not plan to mod.
