break in period for new EVO

i just wanted to know the proper break in mileage for a new evo is. a few of my fellow evo owners in vegas say 500 miles, others say 1000. i just want to know what the safest amount of miles i should put on the car before having a lil fun wit it.

yes i owned an evo before but i didnt have to break it in cuz it already had 700 miles on it. yes i did a search and couldnt find the post i needed. since "break in period" is to broad of a search keyword

Just follow the manual. Break in is 600 miles. Boost often but stay under 5k rpms for the first 600 miles

Just take it easy for 6-700 miles and then you can start to get on it.Dont try and bed in the pads or anything else.Just be cool and you,ll have a great running reliable evo.

I thought the EVO IX manual says the first 1000 miles keep the RPM under 5000. I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that's a safe break in mileage. You want to let the metals and gaskets sit in properly to avoid future problems.

I put about 800-900 on my new IX before I really got on it. Thats what mitsu told me and the car runs great!!! I have 1800 now and had it since 1/12/07. Cant wait till parts arive to get it where I want it to be HP wise.

Yes very helpful!

Any wisdom on when the first oil change should be? Right after the 600 mile break in? (Sorry if this has been asked and answered a billion times before, but
I have not seen it addressed here.)

I would change it after the first 1000 miles and then follow the recommended oil change intervals.
