Question New Motor Break In Period

So my car now has 181 miles on it. What is the break in period so I can feel what kind of power this car has?

I'd wait at least a few hundred more miles before opening it up. The main no-no is driving at a constant RPM; switch things up a bit when you can. Once you hit 1,000-1,500 miles, you should be safe driving it however you want.

500 miles take it easy more so for the brakes to bed right.

Just make SURE you vary in RPMs. Don't just drone around in 5th at 3000-4000 rpm. You have to give it a few little pulls and some throttle. After 500-600 miles I would say you are ready for some WOT action. Some people change their oil halfway through that just to make sure you don't see chunks.

Good luck and be safe

Drive it like you stole it!

Essentially new cars these days have had the motor broke in at factory.

Drive it like you would normally. Any issues that could arise would be covered under warranty anyhow.
Make sure you constantly check your fluids oil etc.

The OLD break in procedure is just that... old and it's philosophy still gets picked up today.

Question, how many NEW cars have you heard of that the rings never sat or the cam lobes were not broke in properly and got worn down...?

This is not a home cobbled engine rebuild.

The RA uses 5W-30, the Lancer uses 5W-20.
