Break in for new clutch?

I just ordered an Exedy stage 2 clutch today but forgot to ask what is the recommended break in period for it.

You should be alright with 500 miles (thats what I did with my twin), anything past that is overkill. No launches during that time either, let everything seat correctly.

Good luck.

I again second the 500 mile rule. Asked a good buddy of mine about it just the other day (owns a transmission shop, does numerous evo clutches) since I'm getting ready for a replacement clutch soon. 500 miles.

I had a triple carbon put on my car last spring. Went straight from the lift to the dyno room at AMS where it laid down 500+ ft/lbs and 400+ hp. Of course we weren't doing launches or anything on the rollers, but Martin wasn't being gentle with the throttle either.

Not sure if this has an effect on longevity, but mine is a race car so it'll see service more often than if it were a daily driver.

to me breaking a clutch in is like breaking a motor in... you dont have to do it. I did what dave did only had a triple carbon i went right to the dyno and did 900+ with 600tq. did the same with my twin disk back in the day, 600+hp and 450+ tq right away.

Yes, 500 miles of street driving (non highway miles) is what we recommend. We have seen people be extra cautious and go for 1000 miles but 500 should be fine for that clutch.

1000 miles is overkill, it is already hard to drive a fast car slow... and especially when you put 1500 miles a year on your car... LOL

Like 4WS Tuning mention, good way to do proper break-in.
As long you don't trash the clutch, you will be fine.
But if you do a LOT of stop and go, you can drop to 400 miles.

But what if u have ur clutch installed around the same time as a few other mods, and then immediately get tuned...Thats what im facing when i go back to CBRD for a twin disc install and then go right and put it on the dyno...Have to do it all at once since im 7 hrs away

Well they will go easy for the first pull and f*ck up your clutch on boost!!!!! LOL J/k
They will know how to proceed, and remember you are on dyno rolling, so no worry.

I am going with 4ws tune so I can schedule a tune with him whenever I am ready, unlike a shop if you are there you want everything done @ once.
