Evo vs Sti

I was just wondering which is the better buy? And what are the advantages and disadvantages between the 2?(mr and non mr?) Doesn't the Evo run on a higher boost which means it relies all its power from the higher boost and also means kills engine life even faster. Yes i know this is an Evo forum but if you can answer these questions not being one sided that would give me a better clear answer thanks. I was just wondering just becuase i don't know much. thanks once again.

But one might have better suspension. One might have better engine performance. one might have better option features. stuff like that. Sorry if the answer is not answerable.

Well the Evo's is one of the most reliable engine in the import scene...
4g63 can handle high boost because it was engineered that way...
i dont think u can get 400hp with stock interals out of a sti..

The Evo has more pure performance than the STI and will outperform STI's in every category (0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed, cornering, braking-same brake hardware, go figure). Not sure about the 07's - we own both a 06 STI and a 06 MR. The MR is more powerful and precise than the STI. We like the STI too. My Evo has some mods and the STI is stock but my car was recently all stock and would still beat the STI in straight line performance. The STI is has nice low end torque but no top end because it's got a small turbo for a 2.5ltr, where the Evo's turbo is sized right for a 2.0 liter. The 4G63 is a proven block that has made over 1000hp and can make close to 500hp on stock internals. Also, its not that they just turned up the boost on the 4G63, the engine is designed for high boost. The Suby's 2.5ltr block has more displacement and lots of low end torque but it cannot match the performance of the 4G63 stock or otherwise (Yet?). Take yer pick though, they are both cool cars and the performance differences are small. When you drive the 2 cars the similarites seem to fade away and you realize you are in two completely different machines with different handling characteristics and powerbands. If I had to get just one all over again,.. a WW IX SE would be my choice.

If you want to mod.. buy an evo, I never lost to an Sti in a straight line... If you want to buy one of these two great cars and leave it stock.. I would lean towards the suby as they seem a little sturdier to be quite honest...the evo definately looks better right now!

Not a very warm welcome from some of you. Please note that this is the newbie forum for asking these types of questions. It was set up to field dumb, lame, stupid, and repetitive questions. Please refrain from commenting if you have nothing to add to the content of the thread. Thanks.

Hey mangofresh. I'm new to the EVO scene myself and believe it or not, the dealer tried his best to sell me on the STI. I can concede with the big guns on this one: It comes down to a matter of style. I've loved the EVO ever since I lived overseas and I have not regretted it since the buy. She's truly a beautiful thing on the road and if you go that way, you won't be dissappointed. Good hunting!

Hahaha! I love it!

And just to keep this a legitimate post, here's my opinion: If you are planning on keeping the car stock, try and test drive each car. The way it feels to you is the only major difference. As far as actual performance, they're nearly identical.

If you plan on modding it, just look at all that's been accomplished with Evos in the aftermarket, compared to STi's. True, there are some big power STi's out there, but it's much more common (and easy) to see a big power Evo running around on average streets. The Evo is just easy to work with and modify, and responds VERY well to mods. In the end, you have to be happy driving the car every day, so make sure to drive them first, and see what feels good to you. Then if you can live with the embarrassment of driving the ugly-*** STi, go for it! Just kidding...

overall, i feel the STi is a more balanced well rounded car. it has performance, quality and comfort. it will easily out run most cars on the streets. as such makes a great daily driver with performance from stock.

evo is harder edged in all the above aspects and even more on edge with its performance potential after mods.

two totally different cars in character.
