another member dan bajananaisiais.. i dont know how to spell it claimed on a dyno he only picked up 7whp going from stock catback to open downpipe.

i wouldn't worry about it unless ur making 500whp
I recently switch from full TBE to stock exhaust. I then yanked the cat and noticed no difference. I have an el'cheapo ebay TBE on the way but I'm going to replace the DP only first just to see if the downpipe is actually the bottle neck.

What DUMP are you using? If I could find a low cost alternative to an electric gate I would buy it in a second.

theyre homemade dump $27 i have that welded into the ultimate racing test pipe right after the 02 fix.. so theres no cel.

there really isn't much power to make from the catback... the power is 110% from the downpipe and cat.

i put the downpipe on first and the car felt much stronger, then i replaced the cat with a test pipe and i felt even more!

then i put the cutout on and the intial punch was more cause of the turbo spooling faster, but the butt dyno didnt feel it any different after the intial kick...

I think this is because its made for a XIII. But I still love it, not as loud as other exhausts + looks nice. I modified it to fit better/not rub so . Cost to modify: $85.

Carbon Cover is Carbon Fiber around the Exhaust, and TI Tip is just a Titanium Tip. When you get the carbon you get the TI tip.

All of the exhaust are the same for both the VIII and the IX,the only difference is that the HKS US spec. exhaust has a bung for the 02 on the mid pipe. The bung is redundant on the IX if using the stock cat or high flow cat which already has a bung. You simply need to plug the extra bung with a bolt.

I had this exhaust on my IX as I posted earlier and switched it to the the titanium Spec R and guess what? If you don't adjust the bolts that connect the mid pipe to the cat or test pipe properly you can get the mid pipe to hit the drive shaft. My point is that the Spec R is listed for both the VIII and IX in Japan and if not installed right I can make it hit the drive shaft. The chassis on both cars are essentially the same

Yes, because of it's design and large resonator

When you bolt the exhaust to the car,you make adjusments to the piping where the flanges meet before tightening the bolts. There are alot of people running this exhaust that have 0 issues if done right. As far as modifications go,this is simple.

I simply see no point in putting carbon fiber underneath your car where no one will look or even want to look

true it does get covered with road grime and it's not as loud as it could be.. but all in all i love it... The angle it sits at is nice plus u can see the carbon fiber without having 2 get underneath the car, and it save u from cops stopping u with there bull**it excuses on why they stopped u. you can pick up the Hi power version for about 200 dollar cheaper and it's the same thing.

So you still trap 115+ and run sub 11's with the stock catback and the cutout closed? I really want to know because I really don't want to get a loud exhaust and that is AWESOME news!

YES, the resonator rubs the driveshaft on a IX, especially in the rain or when cornerning. It's a design flaw, not sure why it didnt rub on VIII's. Every chance I get I'lll let people know what a POS exhaust this is, hopefully it will cost HKS more than the 200.00 I'm out for their junky product. Also, the piping is mild steel and it will rust. Overall this is probably the crappiest exhaust out for the Evo..

To those that say that you can adjust out the rub. IMHO it wont stop rubbing unless you beat the resonator in with a hammer Even if you align the flanges to have the most distance from the driveshaft it still rubs and not having the flanges aligned will obviously reduce flow characteristics. Other HKS products might be great but I'll never know because they burned me on the first product I bought. I called HKS USA and they acted dumb, actually they insinuated that I was wrong instead of trying to remedy the situation. So, I make it a point to try to let people know about my experience. I sold my HKS exhaust at a 200.00 loss so I hope to cost them 100 times that in Evo exhaust sales for dicking me around.

when i was looking at buying it, i chose not to at the time bcuz only the canister was Ti. i wanted a full Ti exhaust & the HKS was not. i ended up running an Espelir JGTC which was lighter, cheaper, & less restrictive (fewer bends)...
