i'm pretty sure they have a different piston/ring package as well. what's CBV stand for?

here's a link for an article on the differences. also, it states new piston rings at the bottom of page 1. i did a search online and found out the IX has 2 rings and the VIII has 3 but mitsu says it reduces oil consumption.

You're forgetting that craptastic sorry excuse for CF panel on the dash, the rear wing that's urethane with a real CF blade as opposed to the 8s 100% CF wing, metal DV, and a better flowing head.

the evo 8 have full carbon fiber spoiler, even the painted part is carbon fiber too.
