Brake Piston not going back in due to rubber seal broken?

I was changing my brakes and rotors, front pass. side brake piston came out with the pad's, i looked around the rubber seal to see if it would go back in but the rubber seal is broken and its going to leak fluid how would i go about changing that? or do i need a new brake caliper? basically the rubber seal is not all the way out its still attached its held on with a little rubber its about to snap should i just try sticking the piston back in? and see if it holds the fluid in? or should i just go ahead and try to replace it?

Caliper rebuilt kits are available. Easy to do as well. By your self a repair manual and follow the directions.

zechaussen racing is an awesome post. he is like a brake scientist. helped me out a lot with track applications. also martin at girodisc is great. i got a rebuild kit from him for much cheaper. give him a call. are you sure it is the seal and not the dust boot. the dust boots get roasted pretty fast but you wont leak fluid when cracked.

My guess is that you are looking at the boot. It is only there to keep dust out. The caliper will work without the boot but you need to get a replacement boot as soon as practical.
