Little bit of smoke from exhaust???
I just got home and my wife was driving behind me. She said that she saw a little bit of white smoke (usually means burning oil) coming from the exhaust when she saw me punch it a couple times (I just revved it up to about 5K in second or third gear). Only when I punched it. I've got an Evo IX and only have 1,000 miles on it and I've babied it every mile so far. No launches and have barely dipped into the turbo at all so far. So, my question is...is it normal for a brand new Evo to blow a little bit of white smoke? Or, do you recommend me having the dealer take a look? Thanks guys
Well its hard to say cause water burns white, oil burns blue/white, fuel burns black. Was it seen at night or day? because headlights can alter the color of it. Also if its just a little, it could be blow by from everything sealin. It wouldnt hurt to take it in but I say your ok. Good luck!
I would probably say you are fine, if it was a light blue I would worry. If you want to put you mind at ease I would have your wife jump in the car and rev it so you can see what color the smoke is. Like esevo said, white can mean water, so if there is any condensation it will evaporate due to heat (steam).
The stock tune runs a little rich to begin so you'll get that if you tap the gas. Bacically, when you press the gas, the injectors dump fuel and the turbo catches up with more air to clean the unburnt fuel. My diesel truck would pour out black smoke until the turbo spooled up and then it was clear. For reg gas you'll get the whiteish blue puff.

Yeah, it's a whitish-graying puff. Probably just water. If it keeps doing it in the next month or so I'll have the dealer take a look. Don't want anything happening to my baby!!!
