Engine Oil

Recently when I started my car from real cold weather, there were a lot of white smoke out of my exhaust. I wanna know whether it is normal or not. And when I speed up from second gear, there was a little bit black smoke came out. Are these phenomenon is normal? One of my friend told me my car should be retuned. However, I saw few evos does the same thing when they speed up or shift.

Well dark black smoke is unburn fuel...usually. But if this is something that has just started happening then something is a miss....unless of course you're just noticing this. Has the car ever been tuned?? what AFR's are you running at WOT?

Really?

If your car is cold that is condensation or water vapor from the cold exhaust getting warm..

As for the black smoke it goes rich when you mash the gas pedal. Lots of fuel being burned equals black smoke or in your case a trace of it anyhow.

Nothing to be concerned about.

Last of all what does this have to do with oil????

Way too little info for anyone to really say anything. But from just reading what you gave, pretty normal.

Any modifications etc would tell a lot. Burning any oil between changes as well...

Where im at it ranges from 30-55 degrees fahrenheit this time of year. When I start my car every morning I get white smoke till its all the way at temp. Im pretty certain its not actually smoke, more vapor from condensation on your pipes i.e. your breath in the cold air lol. Also if i dont give my car a good rip every drive or so, when mash the gas it will put out a little puff of black smoke. If that happens all the time you may have a issue, otherwise I think your fine.

Correct, the white smoke is just condensation and its completely normal. My car does the same thing, but only in the cold. Another interesting note related to condensation; I have a vented oil catch can and during this time of year, it collects a bunch of condensation. I emptied it last night and it basically filled up an entire water bottle. Typically, itll only catch a little oil along with some unburned ethanol.

I have the same smoke coming out of my car in the morning. Its normal and don't worry about it. But as for the black smoke, i don't get that. Maybe like the other members said you are running rich and might need a tune.
