Not sure if this goes here but I will give it a shot. I have been looking around for options on how to get my ecu flashed and tunes. I curently only have a cat back exhaust on the evo and wanted to do boost guage+mbc+ BR intake(or filter only) + a flash. The thing is im not sure what to go with on the flash. I was thinking of getting evoscan+openecu+tackrix with a dynoflash. But now that I was reading on the Works P2 well that looks way better and less complicated. Reason is becuase its 600 dollars a little expensive but it controls boost and it says i dont need a mbc or boost guage. that right there is about 200 dollars less and more stealth. So considering all the items i have to buy if i dont go Works P2 it all cost about the same. Or do i stll need evo scan and the tackrix cable with P2? Sorry guys Im way lost with this one, I was used to DsmLink with just a cable and laptop to work off. Help me out here.

Edit: I will be at MOD 07 also, is Works going to be there again? Will there be good deals on items?

 

I have seen the results of about 6 or more Evo's tuned with the cable, mbc, ecuflash, type set up. All are running strong and very easy to put back to stock. If I were going to mod my car this is the setup I would go with. You can get a used MBC in great condition for bout $50.00 or less, used tactrix cable for $50.00 or so, then a boost gauge for $100 or less. Software is free. Money well spent in my opinion. Cars are pushing upwards of 350 whp and up on stock ecu.

Thanks for the info newbie03evo, I will look into that aswell. Reason I was going for the Works P2 is becuase it controls boost and I dont have a need for a boost guage or mbc at all times in the car. Does Mellon offer this services as well? And anyone know if the P2 can be flashed back to stock if i needed to in an emergency? Im assuming it cant, id have to send back the ecu to them.

 

I would do two things if I were you:

1.) get the Tactrix cable, download the software and backup your stock ECU

2.) Not knowing which state you're in (Cali?) it's a tough call as far as the flash goes. There are a couple of options out there, not sure which of them control boost at this time, but whoever you go with, I'd go with someone that is both reputable and local.

Hmm, the cable + software does look more tempting right about now. As far as were I live, Im located in Yuma, Arizona so no local tuners available Id would have to travel to Phoenix or San Diego around there both being 3hrs away .
