Oil Change

i just reached about 1100 miles and i was told by a few that i should change my oil around now before the scheduled time. my question is do i have to go to mitsubishi for this or can i just go to some other place? i'm asking because i've been reading all of the threads on warranty and i'm learning that mitsu is very strict. so by me going somewhere else, would this void anything. i know this is probably a newb question but i really don't know. TIA.

you can argue about doing the oil change yourself but if there is any engine failure that can be linked to oil failure/burning, engine breakdown it is a headache to argue about it. I just have the dealer change my vehicle's oil as I have with any of my vehicles.

I just buy the oem filter at the Mitsu dealership for $5, then buy the 5 qts. of Mobil-1 synthetic at Walmart $22, then change the oil in my garage.

MD050317 and MZ690116 are the part numbers for the filter and the little crush washer for the drain plug. Buy some Mobil 1 from Wal Mart, and change it yourself. If anybody wants these parts for pretty cheap, I can get them, shoot me a PM.

It's illegal for them to void your warranty because you go somewhere other than a Mitsu dealership for an oil change. Or, if you do it yourself. Like cdfireman said, save your receipts as proof and you'll be all good.

Do it yourself and you may want to consider Eneos 0w50 for the oil.

sure, just read your warranty booklet if you know what I mean. how much do you save doing it yourself? I get to choose the oil and bring to the dealer and get to watch it in their service bay and my bill is $12.50 for the filter, washer and labor. I just bring my own oil M1 10/30 extended performance. they mark my service booklet and that's it.

I get my own M1 10w30 oil and I have the dealer to change my oil. I have free oil change at the dealer as long as I own the car.

I guarantee if I tried that at the dealer near me they would laugh me out of the place and they sure won't let a customer near their car when it's up in the air. What dealer in the Chicago area does this for you? I also like the fact that it's done right when I do and if it's not I know who to blame.

I know they will let you do that in libertyville mitsu since their service bay backs out to the parking area and you have to know or be friendly to the service manager but I have mine serviced at little rock mitsubishi and I'm the only evo9mr in town
