Hello, Eclipse guy here
Hello, Eclipse guy here
I'm looking for information on using my 4G64 block with an Evo head and drivetrain to make a really fast 3G Eclipse. Using a 4G64 block I'd end up having a 2.4L stroker motor right? fully built with bearings, rods, and pistons, what kinda rev limit will I have? still learning
I thought asking questions about a common mod to evo motors (2.4L stroker mod), would yield more information here. I already know that an evo head bolts right in
,the drivetrain is where there is a little bit of modification to deal with.

meh, what's a newbie forum for then? =P
so far I've figured out, 4G63 block = stonger walls, oil squiters, but displacement rocks, 4G64 can add oil squirters, mated with an Evo head, P&P, with some 272s, and 20psi, should be a pretty quick motor build. With forged internals a rev limit of 7500max. maybe say 7200rpm to be safe. and my car will have two doors and no top!
...
what I honestly don't know is which transmissions are limited slip and which aren't, it seems select ones 2003, but all 2004 and up are limited slip, but I have to use a non-acd transfer case (I don't have an evo), and a little modification and I should be good to go.

I can't remember if its certain accessories in the the 3G that won't clear the '63 block, or perhaps the head. So I'm not sure if using your block makes those problems go away or not.

actually it's already been accomplished once, using a 2G rear end & suspension (bolted right up), 2G driveshaft, 2G gas tank, and Evo transmission/transfer case, and only a cross member and the steering rack had to be modified.
