You do know that they make turbo VW's, right?

Kigs... The Pshh sound usually comes from the following:

When you boost the turbo under full accelaration, it spins at ridiculous speeds and keeps on spinning and boosting for a while even though you release the accelarator pedal..

At this time, your engine doenst need the boost since you're releasing the pedal but the turbo is still spinning wild and boosting a pressure that you dont need!

SO what the Blow Off Valve does is that it kinda opens the way OUT for that extra pressure from the turbo to be released in the air. The result is that PSShhhhhh sound you hear.

Whereas in the Evo's, this extra air is released in the air intake. Should your Evo have a Cone filter placed, this air is heard much more from the engine bay than the closed stock air filter which is relatively more confined.

I am patient.

TO add to this, i remmeber when i was relatively a turbo-ingnorant myself and owned an Evo7, this garage shop charged me up to 700$ for a tweak that he called will make more power for my Evo..

What the crook did at the time was to turn the BOV to close the return air to the intake and keep the pressure in the engine. That would have cause my turbo to die quicker and my engine too..

So you guys in Dubai, please make sure you know where to go to fix your Evo's before you decide to hand it over to such thieves.

Everyone already covered what it is but about the harsh comments...just be glad this isnt the supra forums. If you make one little slip you will get absolutly torn to shreds. My best friend just recently sold his '94 tt supra so he was always on and said it horrible, they make you feel like a bag of d*cks.

Yes I do. The sound coming from his car sounds like a long drawn out queef. He doesn't rev the motor which you would have to do to make the bov do it's thing. He coasts on by and all you hear is PHSSSssssssss.

To the best of my knowledge, venting the air to the atmosphere (an atmoshpheric blow of valve, big whoosh noise) instead of recirculating it back into the intake (recirculating valve, smaller whoosh noise) messes with the engines computer in that the computer is expecting there to be more air than there is thereby causing the enging to run poorly. My fellow evom members can correct me if I am wrong on this point.

Everyone is entitled to enjoy the car the way he or she wishes. The guy had a question, and posted on Newbie section. If you think his question is dumb, you don't need to answer it. After all, this forum is for owners to help each others, right?

I don't know much about technical stuff about BOV. All I know is that it releases the pressure from turbo when you let go of the gas pedal. Changing to the mushroom type intake would get simlar sound, too. But if you want the loud sound, you should get a Blow Off Valve. I have Sard R2D2, and I don't have any problem yet. I was going to get the recirculating kit if it gave me problems, but it runs OK so far. I heard APS makes twin vent kind, which is half recirculating, half venting kind.

Just get what you want, and if it gives you problems, then you can learn from your problem. That's a part of learning about your car, too. I've always had BOV on my cars since early 90's, and they all ran OK. Just do what you want to do and enjoy your car!

The stock supercharger sends a signal to the chipped ECU to activate the "PSHH" generator. It is basically a 800watt microphone in front of the intercooler bearing that makes that sound.

I had a K&N cone put on along with my catback yesterday and the car PSHHHHSes pretty ****ing loudly now, and that's with the stock divertor valve. It's almost too loud, honestly. All for $65.
