Holy sh*t, the guy just asked a simple question. Remember, not everyone is a car genious. On the contrary, to a lot of people, a car is just a machine that gets them from point A to point B.

Now I have a question. Wouldn't supercharged cars need a BOV since they are constantly making boost, as long as the engine is on of course?

Supercharged cars have a "bypass" valve which serves the same purpose. A lot of the time its built into the supercharger itself.

I know that the S/C kit that was available for my last car came with a forge DV.

roots SC's do have a built in bypass. centrifugal SC's on the other hand are basically the compressor side of a turbo, with a shaft driven by a belt. so they use a BOV the same as a turbo.

The sound is your BOV. It happens when your car spools up boost and when you shift gears it lets all of that air that was spoiled up in your turbo out. It can also happen when you just spoil up the turbo and let go of the gas which will also let all of the air out. I hope that helps you. Don't let what some of these guys say get to you. We were all like that once. The first fast and the furious i saw with his DSM i didnt know what the hell that sound was. Good luck

the "pssh" or "whoosh" sound is a BOV (blow-off valve)...when the throttle is applied (the plate open) the intake's suction after being filtered sends the air to the turbo and creates force..when the throttle is released or shifting gears releases the air built in the turbo, to prevent compressor surge..can u say turbo havoc?..
