06 RS Daily Driver?
06 RS Daily Driver?
I am new to the forum having found my way here based on my decision to buy an evo.
I am giving serious thought to the RS but as much as I love the notion of such a spartan sports car I know it will be tempered by the reality of daily commutes.
I am happy to dispense with the standard features, but not having driven an RS I wonder just how noisy and raw the ride is as a result.
I can always go with a IX but I'd love to hear from any RS owners who mught be able to shed some light on this.
Thanks!

Put in an OEM radio and two OEM rear speakers off a GSR/MR and you're set. I drive mine daily and absolutely LOVE it. What gets annoying is SOMETIMES having to open up the passenger door for the lady manually.
I'd spend the extra few bucks on the "GSR" model at least. The suspension seems stiffer, only because the lack of sound deadening. The manual doors etc is also a pain in the butt.
Unless you're a serious "racer" then you should spend a little more $$ to get a little more "comfort". Especially with the beautiful new england roads, it's not so forgiving.......

I drive an RS Daily. It is great. My buddy who has an MR Rode with me the other day and told me his car has just as much road noise. All I did was put in a radio and some speakers and Im good to go.
As for the lack of power features. Who needs it. I open the door for my chick all the time anyways and here in Florida the ac is on most of the time. The crack to roll down the windows is fast too so if you want them down it is quick.
The lack of giant spoilers and such is great if your local Law Enforcement is not Jap Car Freindly. They hardly look twice at mine!

IIRC The MR is the only model with a different suspension.
you can drive anything daily...
I do not think the Evo is a daily driver, specially the RS.
Daily driver for me is smooth ,confi, good gas milage, light clutch or automatic, I can leave it everywhere and do not worry about it...
and it has cheap maintanence
Now this is not an Evo, don't you agree?

I agree that the RS (or any EVO) are not the greatest daily driver. I'd say get one for the weekends, and use the Porsche as a Daily Driver.
In all seriousness, the RS is a great driver. The biggest detractors for me are the lack of pw/pl. If you go with a different EVO, de-wing it! no wing=sleeper

a smoother daily driver would be a WRX with an auto.....I sure as hell could not live driving the evo everyday,my bladder agrees, plus I can never park it where it might get screwed with,my 2.5i I dont give a **** about
well I have a 2005 RS, I had it for 1month now...at the beginning I wasn't really used to all manual..but after awhile it didn't bother me at all..since it gets so cold here in chicago during winter I wouldn't worry that my windows to get stuck...
